Well, like the topic says, I broke a wheel stud. I don't want to pay les Schwab $250 to fix it, so I was hoping someone could give me some pointers. I think I have to take off the brakes and pound the old one out, but it's on the rear wheel so that means drum brakes. Do those need to come off? Any advice is welcome! Thanks!! OH! The car is a 94 Impreza in case it makes a difference.

No that was great, thank you!!!

If it's a head gasket your oil would look like chocolate milk, and so would your coolant. Also is there bluish white smoke coming out the tail pipe? Also a tell tale sign of blown head gasket. Any chance you might have over filled the oil and it came back out the dipstick? It happens a lot actually!

Which way should the fan on the radiator spin? Pushing air out of the car, or pull it in?

Definately, I think that fan is our problem with the overheating issue. I didn't know the starter was staying on, You never had it on that long. My fault. But with the fan, I'm assuming it's 12v, we should find out for sure. I'd rather have it run constantly than not at all. We should investigate those "mystery wires" from the fan. I'll get a new sensor. Is there any way to get rid of the California emissions s**t?

Ok, we have a $10 shucks ignition. It works and turns the engine over, but the on and the start positions seem to be synonomous. The "idiot lights" do come on when we turn the key, but the car also turns over. There seems to be no accessory position. I have the opinion that if the car starts, then it works, but we have no acc option, meaning the car is on or it's not. There is no steering lock. Is there any way to fix this? Are we wiring it wrong, or are we gonna have to live with this for ten bucks?

Very good question, since it is my car (well eventually) I'd like to know too. Is it the blatant screw under the air cleaner that you can see without really having to remove it completely?
