  1. Did you read the earlier posts? He has had other subarus with no brake problems and he has lived in the same area for the whole time. Sometimes people seem to defend subaru a little too much. At the time this was a brand new car that was eating brakes, simple 'aggresive' driving should not result in wearing out your brakes in 7k miles or whatever the number was. If that is the case subaru should change it's marketing campaign to include 'driving ms daisy' shots and forget about hyping all the rally championships because that is 'agressive driving'.
  2. Perhaps it is harder to feel the heat in the back because when it is cold enough to need your seat warmed you are usually wearing: a) a shirt maybe a sweater c) a heavier jacket whereas the bottom can be felt because you're usually wearing underwear and jeans, much thinner than the clothing on your back. just my 2 cents.
  3. sooo.....the switch is to toggle between high and low? am i drinking beer or buying beer?
  4. The seat heaters in my 01 OBW have 2 settings, my sig other thinks that one setting is for the back of the seat and the other is for the bottom, I contend that it is simply a high/low toggle switch. Who owes who a beer?
  5. I've checked high and low for that bloody wheel lock. Nowhere to be found. Is is really neccesary to have a wheel lock on all four wheels on a Subaru? Who is stealing factory aluminum rims?
  6. That does help, thanks alot. Anyone got any suggestions for good rotors? whats a good price?
  7. I have a 2001 OBW that I recently purchased and I have a few questions (I don't have an owners manual). To the left of the steering wheel there are 3 button, a fog light button, a cruise control button and a defrost button. Is the defrost button for the rear window or the mirrors? I'm assuming that the other defrost button to the right of the steering wheel does whatever the other one doesn't, if that makes any sense.... Also what is the switch marked 'P' that sits right on top of the steering wheel, it's where the hazards are usually placed on a vehicle. Also I bought this car for a riduculusly low price at an auction and was only able to test drive it around the block. I have noticed that when braking from about 75kmh to about 40kmh there is some pretty serious shuddering going on. Any suggestions as to what that might be? I haven't been able to take the wheels off and have a look as the locking lug nuts are on all 4 wheels and I don't have the 'key' to get them off. I'll be taking it in soon for a complete inspection but would like to know what might be causing the shuddering before I hear the mechanics version of what the problem is. Thanks for any help. Wes
  8. It's funny that you guys are quoting the 5000 mile mark as the bench mark for changing oil. Up here in Canada I was always told to change your oil every 5000 km's! Without getting out the calculator the difference is major. Perhaps the colder weather up here is a factor.
  9. Newbie here, Does anyone have any experience installing amps in 2001 OBW? I was thinking a good loaction would be under the drivers seat. Attaching the amp to the sub box is not an option because I have to be able to quickly disconect the sub in order to carry larger loads, simply disconnecting to speaker wires is a heck of alot easier than disconecting grounds, power supply, rca cords etc. If I try under the seat is it neccessary to remove the drivers seat? Is that a pain the in arse? Any comments would be appreciated. WesinCalgary
