I don't think I have any oil leakage, just concerned about the Turbo blades having carbon on them and possibly throwing them out of balance. Plugs 3-4 had a lot of carbon on them, the muffler and tailpipe were black.

Hey everyone thanks to you I got my 2.2 running nicely now after the coil problem which was causing it to run rich, (wasn't firing on 1+2 once warm) the tailpipe was carbonned up pretty bad, well now I am thinking the turbo might also have a lot of carbon on it which I would like to remove. Any suggestions on how I could get the carbon off the blades without removing the Turbo, would a spray type cleaner or seafoam be safe? Thanks.

I replaced the temp sensor that talks to the ecu but all is well I found the problem, went to my local subie wreckers and got a coil, what a difference like a new old vehicle. Off to play, thanks everyone. Vic.

Hi yes I did change the PCV valve fuel filter and temp sensor, the knock sensor looks good, pulled my new plugs with about 50 miles on them and 3-4 are carboned up while 1-2 look pretty good so I am off to get a new used coil pack from the subaru wrecker as I can no longer afford new parts. Will post the results, did notice that the engine ran good when cold then as it reached operating temperature it got progressivley worse and if I shut it off for a few minutes or it stalled it got worse! Put a vacuum gauge on the intake and it was nice and steady, if I remember right it is supposed to be between 16-22 and it is around 18?

Yes there is a lot of soot in the tailpipe but no smoke really, and last time I looked the plugs were all the same, I will pull the plugs and injectors tomorrow any suggestions on what to look for, will search for injector problems in the meantime. I looked for a puddle checked everywhere for a leak but didn't find one. Thanks .

Could be winter blend but I have been adding an injector cleaner, getting about 10 average, took it to a shop but they couldn't figure it out either, the guy said his code reader died when he tried to check my engine! He said the wastegate was fine! Thanks.

So I have a new O2 sensor. (Bosch) temp sensor wires and plugs, cleaned the MAF, TPS, IAC and the engine is running nicely or so I think until I test drive it and the gas guage is still in free fall. Thanks.

I will check it, noticed that the little spring clip isn't on the intake hose where it attaches to the bypass. Great site. Thanks.

How do I check the air bypass valve, pulled the hose (coming from under the air duct between the turbo and the intake to the resonater) off at the resonater and at idle it was blowing air like crazy, is this normal? The valve I am referring to is listed in the parts manual as #14471 AAQQ VLV AY-AIR BYPASS. Thanks.
