  1. Moosens On the 78 brat, i took it to a place here in Dallas and had it fiberglassed, i will get pictures of it for you, it came out really nice, as the before of the dash was almost like dont touch it it will crumble. sitting in a car for 20 years not being touched or anything. but when i got it back from being fiberglassed it was painted and then clearcoated , came out really good. I will post some new pics of things soon. been still working on the car for the last year and a half.
  2. pop the hood of your favorite FORD and bingo, you should have plenty of relays to choose from the part number to one is Bosch 12077864 but the ac relay, light relay, and many others are usable.
  3. Bought a 1983 subaru hatch back, pretty much a complete car, missing disty, and alternator. will get a chance to work on the car some to find out the scoop on the engine and so on. over all shape of the car is pretty good for being an 83. but i will have some pics added to my album probably by this weekend. i would at least like to find out first if the car runs or not, and what all it is going to need or why it was parked, the one who owned it parked it and is now long gone too. so no one knows the full scoop on the car.
  4. I say change the fuel injectors, i have had a car that i swapped a motor on, that had the same problem, where i was getting the same results, running at idle, but not on all 4 cylinders, and so on, pulling plug wires made no difference, and fuel injector plugs, and still no diference, but when i changed all four injectors, with some others i had, the motor ran perfect, and so i went and bought 4 new ones and the car ran great.
  5. Electric Monk, No problem, gave some stuff to Calebz for you, said he might be going over to Mikes to do some things this weekend. so i gave him some stuff for you. as for the car the car is not FT4WD.... it is selectable 4wd and so on.... Still no progress on finding a fix for it, so new axels are on order as of tonight for it. get them tomorrow, so that will get me back on the road. but still need to know how to get the 4wd fixed.
  6. no i wasnt saying you disrespected me at all. i was just saying that i dont expect anyone to know everything, but then some just know what and where the problem lyes, and that is what im looking for, and so on.i just know someone else has had this problem, and i cant seem to find the link to it, but i will find it soon and get the problem taken care of, or i will just go find some axels and use the front like i am suppose to, but was just hoping to make it past the end of the year till i had to do it. but then again, things happen....
  7. i dont expect everyone to know this, but i am sure someone else has had this problem, and so on, and i am just trying to figure it out is all thanks for your input and i will check it out though for sure, right now, if it fixes it, i will let you know
  8. a 3at and i was told it was a pin, but i dont know. we will see what happens
  9. I was told that there is a pin that locks the car into 4wd, in a 1983 brat GL, my Q is, where is this pin, and is it easily replacable. as i have no front axels in the car and am having to rely on driving it in 4wd mode until i finnish my other car. so i have one of two choices, buy axels, or replace the pin. any help with where this pin it and how to get the car to move again, would be great
  10. i have an 83 brat that does the same thing, goes down into reverse and drive easy but is very tight and hard to get it back into park, but it will move back into park with some elbow grease, havent had time to look at it today, cause i had another car blow head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, and a waterpump all in one shot, oh but it didnt over heat, i swear it never hit the red mark i was told. so i had my hands full today. damn chevy when i do get into it and find out what it was, i will let you know asap.
  11. I saw a brat, it was sitting pertty in my drive way. its an 83 with only 100300 miles on it. and runs like a top, and every single thing works.... cost me $100.00 oh yeah and was tagged and inspected.
  12. saw and outback yesterday, with an h6 in it, what is that ?? i know it is the flat six, but what kind of power, and i know someone is already doing that to there gen 1 brat.
  13. Well garner, i dont think that it will take you long, just it took us a year cause we only played with it during our free time, and werent rushed to get it done. as we had other things to do in the mean time too. plus chris lives 50 miles from here so it was even harder for him to get things done. plus with me bing in a new house and getting things settled down there....
  14. caboobaroo, i have two motors, one is a 79 and the other is a 78 , the 78 is pretty much complete, minus the disty, but i am sure everything else is there. the 79 has the heads taken loose, and the jugs pulled away. the intake is gone, wasnt there when i got the car, and the carb and so on is gone, so basically i would look at it as a long block, missing some parts. i dont think chris or i have any use of the parts on those motors, but i will ask him and see what he says, i am sure he will do something workable with you on it. but i am getting two more brats, one is going to calebez, and the other is going to be built into another project, though i am going to lift this one and make it a great 4x4 with big tires and so on. i will email you as soon as i know what he wants to do. i know he wants to hold onto the transmissions.
  15. dont know i would just like to build the brat with eh best motor they have , if it means having to use another type of frame then so be it, so i am just trying to have some fun but also bring another one back to life instead of sitting out in a barn. i have found three more brats and hope to get them all, tow of them are gen 1's and the 3rd is a gen 2. will probably let the gen 2 go though, as it is wrecked pretty bad, and no motor ar tranny or title. and misssing alot of glass due to the neighborhood kids playing with rocks around it. thinking they were going to be cool, damn where was someone with a bb gun when needed to save the poor car? /??
  16. Well anything can be looked at as a pain in the rump roast, but then you ust have to show it whos boss, like the guy who put the 6 cylinder into his gen 1 brat, dont know what all he had to do, but it is in there, would like to know more about what he had to do, to get it in there, and what it is going to be like when it is done. but i have a 87 wagon with a ea82t motor in it now, and also has the digital dash, i am thinking about building another 78 or 79 brat out of the wagon, but want to find a D/R 5 speed this time. the car wasnt that hard to build just took some thinking and so on, really the hardest part was stripping the wiring down to keep only what i wanted to keeep, that is why i said that it would be easier to change the whole harness into the brat, that way you had options for later for power windows and locks, and many other things. when i build the next one it will have the whole harness from the wagon incorporated into the brat. so that i have the options for everything. and then i can do the power windows and locks, and who knows what other little things i might want to bring into the car. Just so many options and so on, what i basically did for the motor mounts was bolted two peices of lawnmower blades that were welded together, to the cross member, and used the stock motor mounts from the wagon to bolt to the blades sticking out where they needed to be, but the new ones will be a similar thing, but using a better mount instead of the small mount. and like i have said to anyone who wants to know mroe, just email me and i will be gald to go over any details in greater length and help you as much as i can to get your car going. shoquest2002@yahoo.com
  17. We have a 1987 Subaru GL-10 turbo wagon, we will begin to part it out this coming weekend if the weather permits it. everything must go, all will be sold except for the motor, Wiring harness and computer and digital dash. these parts will be used in another 78 or 79 brat with a D/R 5 speed tranny. the interior is in nice shape, lots of the body is in great shape, just cant get a title, so we are going to part it out. some pictures of it can be seen in the 78 turbo brat picture album on page 3. the transmission is good, it is a auto 2wd one. if you guys are interesed in anything let me know, and i will get with Chris and come up with a decent price. You can either post here or email me directly at shoquest2002@yahoo.com I hate not being able to get a title
  18. dont want to steal your post or anything, but i can say that my noise in the front end of my 83 brat is now taken care of, damn bearings were a M****F*** to deal with. they ere like welded to the hub. but that is ok. And Caleb, I found out where the other one of three more brats are, just waiting to hear back from BW to know where the other is for sure before i head over .
  19. yes made some custom motor mounts and tranny mounts out of some lawnmower blades that i cut and welded into motor and tranny mounts. wasnt having problems with the axels cause of the hight of the motor, it was the width of the tranny , almost a 4 inch difference between the 78 axels and the transmission 5 speed. the tranny is wider and it wouldnt let me use the stock axels, so i had some made. soon to get some video of it doing some burn outs. and post that for you guys
  20. - 5 below, and i thought it was chilly here in texas. hmmm Well i had a nissan truck once up in wyoming, and when it got cold it would flood, i did the same trick as to puting a FPR on it and it took care of it. from then on i hit the peddal once, pulled the choke, and of she fired. and ran great, eventually the nissan ghosts came and took her soul, poor thing. was a great truck.
  21. well i will keep looking for the twin turbo one that is really what i would like to do. not that 2000 is a bad price, cause that is a great price indeed. thanks for the input and correction on the motor, i stand corrected. was late lastnight when i posted and wasnt thinking clearly
  22. yeah i think i would probably get lynched by my family jewles, but yeah i will fine a ej20t for it then. what yeads and cars did they come in ?
  23. Ok anyone got a EJ22TT motor , tranny perfer 5 speed, just no sense in building an auto, the wiring and computer ? I just got word on where i can get antoehr brat, and i am up for another project, as Chris is going to finnish up the other now. i would perfer to get the whole car, wrecked, but with a good motor, and tranny, and computer and wiring. let me know guys, i know someone is holding back and sitting on one while at their computer !!!
  24. just email me, thanks... so who is up for donating a EJ22TT motor to me, for my other 78 brat ? of course i need the computer, motor, tranny, , ok hell, how about a car that is wrecked that would have everything i need ?????
