  1. Just a quick wiring question, Does the ECU ground the pin for the main fan when the temperature reaches the set point or does it actualy feed power out of the ECU to ground? AND..... Regardless of how the feed comes/goes from this pin, is it powering a solenoid? Once again, any help here appreciated. Cheers
  2. Thanks WAWalker, Just what I was after. Mate, a bit of an odd question for you here. The wiring diagrams that you refered to, are they an electronic copy and could I possibly get them off you some how? I am having a hell of a time trying to find wiring info for my engine etc between the 94 and 98 models...... If not, no worries..... it was worth a try Cheers Paul
  3. Hi guys, I am after information on the 'check engine light'. The wire that comes out of the ECU that goes to the CEL is that a power wire out or does this wire receive power. I am running an EJ22 on an engine stand and thought that I would get the CEL working. Ran the wire from the ECU to a two pin pilot light. One pin connected to this wire out from ECU, the other to ground. I expecting the light to come on with ignition power but......... Nothing! This made me think that maybe the computer sends the signal to the light by earthing out the 'subject wire' and allowing power to be drawn through the light. Not game to test the theory, and I don't have the correct wiring diagrams for a post 94, pre 98 EJ22. Any help would be appreciated. Paul
  4. Hi guys, I need a bit of info.... I have in my posession what I believe is a 96 liberty ECU. It has three (3) yellow connectors going into it. The plate reads as follows: UI 22611 AB640 A18-000 RV2 5919 Anyone have any details on this ECU? Is it a later model ECU? I am assuming a 16 bit. Is it the easier ECU and harness to strip etc What service manual would I need to get in order to correctly identify pins etc. If you are interested the first connector has 26 pins second has 16 pins third has 22 Any help here would be greatly appreciated Cheers Paul
  5. Thanks guys..... I wanted to run my engine without the sensor due to the fact that I don't actually have a sensor......yet. I have just finished rebuilding a wrecked engine and am still in the process of sourceing all the sensors.... I'm a bit over it, so am getting a little over eager. I will take a chill pill and source a sensor. Cheers
  6. Hi guys, What sort of signal is given by the knock sensor....? Is it a constant voltage? How does the signal change when it senses a ping? Can I trick the ECU into thinking there is a knock sensor connected....(I know its not advised etc, just need the info) Thanks in advance Paul
  7. Hi guys, Can you make a starter motor turn in the opposite direction. I can see on the one I have (liberty) that there are two main terminals and a smaller pin out. One of the large terminals is currently wired up. Can I swap them over? Thanks in advance Paul
  8. Hi guys/girls, I have an EJ22 engine from a 98 liberty gx from a wrecker, the manifold that came with the engine is not the original. Couple of questions: 1) Is there a way to tell from the connectors whether it is compatible with this engine? It has two large grey squares and one smaller white square connector. 2) If the manifold has come from a earlier model, can I just get an ECU and harness that will fit the connectors and expect it to run the engine?(given the right things like it being an auto etc) 3) If I was to source a full harness and ECU, including the sensors, can I just apply it to the engine/manifold and expect it to run? I need to get this engine running outside of a vehicle. Any help appreciated Cheers
