  1. According to Cars101.com the cold weather package was $400 and included heated seats, engine block warmer, and heated mirrors. Leather was an additional $1295. I don't know if leather and the cold weather pkg. was available on a manual.
  2. I put a new connector on the ground wire and connected it...the horn and CC still do not work. The new switch is a bit different from my old one...there are 2 connectors, and the ground. The one that I pulled out of my car only had the one connector, and the ground. The paper that came with the cruise control stuff said the one plug was the OE Horn something-or-other...but there is no place for it to connect to. If it was the switch then the CC should at least work now, right? Or since the horn isn't working...does that mean that it isn't connected properly and that could have something to do with the new switch not working?
  3. Hrrm...awesome. The new switch was one you screw in...and the old one was one you plug on...so i'll get some solder or JB Weld and hook that up and I hope it will work then.
  4. There is a ground...it may not be hooked up..would this cause the horn and CC not to work? I installed a new pump for the cruise control system...and the throttle part. I installed a new button on the dash that lights up AND new switch on the wheel...but the ground may not be hooked up...could that cause it not to work?
  5. If I had something other than my Outback or Legacy...i'd be more than willing to go offroading...but I just can't do that to my Outback...and the Legacy might die if I do that to it :-/ Someday i'll have a hatch or a Brat
  6. When my Legacy has leaking cam seals I used 20w50 in it. It was really thick...but still leaked out.
  7. OK, I installed a new switch in the steering wheel, brake thinger, throttle thing, vacuum pump, button on the dash, and main computer thing...and my CC still does not work. The only thing left to do is the clutch button thing. I don't think its that...I don't know what it is. I hope I installed the switch in the steering wheel wrong...because now my horn does not work. I don't know what else to do. When I press the button, the light comes on, and I hear the 'click' sound from the main cruise control computer thing...but when I go to set a speed or accelerate...nothing. Any ideas?
  8. That won't work. I spent $20 on them and it didn't work...it just slips. I need a lefthand thread screw or bolt. Thanks anyways.
  9. Yeah, I was assuming thats who you were when I saw your user name (well, one of the Taggarts.)
  10. My lower gears grind sometimes...downshifting its worse...I hope a change in oil in the transmission will help some...or maybe it just needs a clutch adjustment :-/
  11. I am from Slippery Rock, too! Good to see some more local people joining the board. I drive a dark blue Outback with a dent on the hood. You may have seen it around town.
  12. That is pretty much what the thing was that gets out stripped screws...a reverse drill bit...i'll look for a bigger reverse drill bit and try that...the problem with the other thing was it was to small.
  13. ...to take my steeting wheel apart on my 96 Outback. I stipped the torx/allen wrench screw thinger on the righthand side of my steering wheel. I need to put a new cruise control leaver in. So, to get the screw/bolt out I need a lefthand thread bolt or screw... I need a 1/4, 5/16, and a 3/8 bolt/screw. It can be any length, and can be a hex bolt, phillips screw, etc. I am going to screw the lefthead thread screw in counter-clockwise until it is tight, and then it will force the bolt/screw in my steering wheel out by turning it loose. I checked local hardware stores, Auto Zone, Adv. Auto Parts, Lowes, and Home Depot...some have the nuts for the bolts...but nothing else. If anyone knows where I could get one...a store, or a website, or ANYTHING...i'd really really appreciate it. (I tried those things that are supposed to take out stripped screws, the ones that look like weird drill bits... it didn't work)
  14. My truck at work has a bell when I don't have my seatbelt on (I hear it when I am driving across the parking lot at like 5MPH...thats the only time I don't wear it) Buckle the seatbelt, then sit in the seat. Have it behind you. Orrr...get a spare buckle to put in the thinger so it thinks you have it on.
  15. I was looking into getting new ones for my 96 OBW at Autozone...they wanted $50...same as the dealer. eBay would be your best bet.
  16. Simply, both wheels will spin. Like in most vehicles if you spin your tires, only one will spin...in a LSD, or positrac, they both will...better traction because it takes a lot more to spin them both.
  17. STOP FLIRTING WITH PEOPLE OVER THE INTERNET i'm just messing with you...heh
  18. differnet engine...but 1996 OBW 2.2l Average is about 24.4 Worst was around 18 (my MAF was messed up) Best ever was all highway at around 55MPH - 30.5
  19. Hrrm...an increase in gas mileage. When I rigged a cone shaped filter on to the MAF sensor I was getting like 15 MPG :-\
  20. I'd be to worried about getting the leather dirty...so save $1000 and get a LSD
  21. 1996 Outback 2.2l - 99,000 miles (Second owner) 1995 Legacy L 2.2l - 215,000 miles (all original except the battery, clutch, brakes, rotors, oil pump seal, cam seal, and timing belt...and some filters and basic junk)
  22. Heh...might as well just use Fram...or even a old coffee can with napkins stuffed in it :-p
  23. Well, i'd expect it to get hot with the AC on, going up hills, on a hot day, hauling a heavy load...heh. How heavy was the stuff you were towing?
