I like that set-up. I was thinking in the front, but there's no reason why a guy couldn't move it back and use up some of that wasted space. Later, Tim

So I was thinking (yes, I know, it can be dangerous) that on my next off road build I would like to do a wagon again. The hatch is fun and all but not very "utilitarian". However I would like to reuse the bumper I built. The down side is I lost alot of approach angle. So, I was thinking, why not mount the radiator horizontaly on or just under the hood. That way I can pull the bumper and winch back to an almost stock position. With the lift I should have plenty of space, and I'd continue to use aftermarket fans to draw in air, through a rectangle hole cut into the bonnet. What say ye off roaders???? Later, Tim here's for reference.....

Help!! I think I broke my loyale...
chef_tim replied to lorysloyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is a slight bevel on the stub too. that is how you can tell that the axle is on the correct way. As stated above, it will look like it is right, but it is deciving. Give the 180º spin a try, you might be surprised. Best, Tim -
Hey Chris, I just found your posts on Rally-America's forum. See, I'm doing my home work;) . Later, Tim

Thanks guys, I've recomemended to my buddy to try and find a straight over swap. If it was me (and some day it might be) I'd be all over it. Dan (some of you might remember him from WCSS III) is far better suited to tinkering with Buicks . Thanks again for the tips, Tim

Are there 5 fuel filters between the tank and carb.
chef_tim replied to abcus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No. Two is all. One next to the fire wall, next to the brake booster and one in the back on the fuel pump platform. Later, Tim -
Thanks Mike, I never even looked in the older gen forum:rolleyes: . Later, Tim

I've just searched 9 pages of threads looking for a very simple answer:dead: . Can my buddy with an 83/84 turbo car replace his turbo with an EA82 turbo:confused: . If so, is there any thing "wierd" I should let him know about:confused: . Thanks, Tim PS if I read one more "can I put a turbo into a non-turbo car" thread I may have to some one . Later, Tim

lame compatability question
chef_tim replied to RdNkBrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There are alot or parts that will inter-change. To start all the 80 to 84 wagons should have like interiors and exteriors with a few minor/cosmetic differences. Then you have Brats, Coupes, and Hatches. Some stuff will fit some wont. The Brat is probably the most different. It has different doors, and seats. Obvious differences are in things like back glass, side glass etc. Best bet is to stick as close to wagon parts as you can. I know this is a rather general answer, but you asked a very broad question. If you get more specific I'm sure there will be others who can give you more difinate answers. Later, tim -
^^^I picked it up at a custom truck parts shop, it was four individual strips and I just put it on and cut to where I wanted it to end on the bottems. The wire is very tough, I broke my favorite dykes on it. Ended up using a cut off wheel:headbang:

I think I have a basic understanding of how Rally racing works, so how do I really start to follow it and get in deeper to following it??? I don't have Speed channel or any sports channels on the telly. I'd like to be able to follow what's going on who's who etc. It seems very confusing to try and follow it on websites (I may not be going to the right ones) seems like each site is declaring a different champion:confused: . Please give me your words of wisdom, even if it seems like something everyone should know, as I probably don't:rolleyes: . Thanks, Tim

That's what i have on my hatch.......... Just need to make sure you get it screwed in to solid metal. Later, Tim

This thread is making the wheels really start to spin . Thanks, Tim

My idea for multiple seating options for the Brat
chef_tim replied to Qman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Might want to concider extending the roll protection too. it would suck to be the guy over oh, say 5'3" in a roll in the second row of seats . Be a great tour vehicle, mount a speaker back there and point out rock formations while wheeling . -
how do you like your CCR engine?
chef_tim replied to jonas's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I didn't say they were cheap . But to me it's money well spent. Later, Tim -
Hey boy, unless you've recently got a really big raise, you're still not being paid to think  J/K, Tim

You will not be disappointed by Rick & Emily and the whole CCR Team. I have purchased 3 motors from them with only one real problem and that was resolved to better then satisfaction. :headbang: <- 3 headbangers for CCR. Later, Tim -
Unfortunatly there are no "real" rally events even close to me. This will be for my own enjoyment and to have a project to work on. Thanks for all the ideas so far, Tim

I kinda figured I was in the right place:brow: What is the major difference between the XT6 and XT suspention?? I'm assuming the XT is along the same line as an EA82 set-up. Later, Tim

I'm just dreaming, collecting ideas, etc. for my 84 T-Coupe rally car. I'm going to keep the EA81T but other then that I'll entertain most other thoughts for mods. Mine was to put a FTFWD D/R 5spd with center diff lock from an RX into it. Upgrade the suspention, possibly from an XT:confused: . Bill dropped of the "H" alloy rims and I think I'll stick with those (unless I do the XT swap). So it you have any suggestions, ideas (proven or not) or other forms of input let me know. Thanks, Tim

Again with the pictures:rolleyes: And this is how I do it (I use a digital slide scale now)...... Hope this help, Tim
