  1. Hey John. Where did you get the lugs and what did you use for the eyelette end??? I'm thinking Tractor Supply Co. or something along that line. Thanks, Tim
  2. Again I am amazed by the simplicity of the answer. I have 25' of 2 guage copper welding wire in my garage that has been hanging on the wall for at least 8 years because I didn't know what to do with it. Guess I try my hand at building cables. Thanks guys:headbang:
  3. Any one know of a good brand of battery cable??? I'm getting ready to hook up my winch and I want to start with new battery cables but I don't want to get cheap junk ones. Many thanks, Tim
  4. Very observant:D And quite correct:clap: However, it did not go back in the kitchen drawer:-p Later, Tim
  5. Hey guys. Guess I'll come out of the shadows to give some insite to this. First, I went to about a dozen body shops who told me either they wouldn't, couldn't or it would be outragously exspensive. I got very lucky and found a guy from Belarus who took it on. I did all the finishing work, grinding welds, all the filling and the sanding and painting and it still cost me $800. You will need to be very exact in your measuring, Nick (the body guy) told me in Belarus they have a saying....."measure 100 times, cut once". He seemed impressed that in America we only measure twice:grin: . The back halfs will not match up and you will need to add in a strip of metal. What Nick said he did was took a strip of metal off of one side or the other (I can't remember which side) turned it upside down and welded it in and it made a good fit. As for problems I only have one. A couple of small leaks. One I fixed by changing out the passenger side T-top, seems to have bad seals. The other is in the window seals on the doors and as long as I don't get any high pressure water going straight at it it is fine. I just stay out of car washes:rolleyes: . I hope this helps, Tim
  6. Closest I could get with a search........... Is the oil filler cap on an EA81 supposed to be tight or should it have some play in it???? Thanks, Tim
  7. Or this..................... Complete with center caps, fender badges, and the rear 4wd and sub badge:headbang:
  8. Great, I was just about finished and now I need to add extra lights:clap: I just put my registration in the mail:banana:
  9. I'm at a point where whats done is done:brow: . I appriciate the suggestions, If I ever do another one I'll look back at these. I added a couple more pics in the gallery particularly of how I mounted it. 3x1.5 tubing through the body channel. I'll put up more after paint lights and winch. Funny you mention the radiator........... If you ever decide to drill through the body channnel, put a board in front of the radiator:rolleyes: . Later, Tim Okay, this is the basic finished product. I might add some lights or D rings but that can be done later.
  10. I've put a few pics of my bumper in my gallery, let me know what you think. Later, Tim http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=522
  11. Sorry Mick, I can't make that either. I'm thinking Castana will be the trip for me too.
  12. Okay, I'm going to go against the flow. I'm on the AMC for this, but just for one reason, reliability. With the type of mods you are going to do to the Brat I just don't think it will be as reliable. Use an EJxx in a gen 2 Brat and I'm back in for the Brat.
  13. Welcome!!! The hatches are AWESOME!!! Here's mine...... The rest of the Pirates might give you some grief about getting a Subby, just kind of an inside joke around here. Whene you get 50+ post's we'll fill you in. Have a good one, Tim
  14. I have a CCR EA81 that has EA71 pistons and Brat cams. Eats through a 32/36 Weber. I have 28" Swampers. I put in NEW GCK axles and havn't had a single problem breaking them. You wont get huge power with out major work, I can barely hold hiway speeds. Bottem end is alot better, tonnes of torque:brow: . If I had it to do all over I'd go with an EJ motor. Oh well, live and learn. Tim
  15. You have to use the EA82 flywheel too!!!! If you don't the clutch will slip to beat the band. You may find that the holes on the EA82 fly wheel are slightly bigger then the EA81, but if you torque it down good it shouldn't be a problem.
  16. Sorry I'm late, had to find out about this from mnsubaru.com:lol: . The one I sold to Bob was #93 if I remember correctly. All they were was a dealer kit with graphics and a few cosmetic dress up things. Still a nice car. Nice to see you still around Jamie, how's life treating you??? Have a good one, Tim
  17. I just read and re-read the whole thread and not one person said anything worse then what you have here. No one said it was or if your going to use quotation marks in a statment you need to make sure someone said it!!! Time to take a chill dude, just because someone doesn't like a particular car doesn't mean you need to come all undone.
  18. The only dumb question is the one that's been asked a hundred times before, Thanks for searching first;) . Welcome to the board, Tim
  19. Hey Brian, I've got two 10" aftermarket fans on both our lifted Roo's. One is an EA81 and one is an EA82. The fit is perfect, on the rad and in proximity to the motor. Later, Tim
  20. Two thumbs up!!! Rims look great on it too.
  21. Copy and paste addy from properties . Another lovely west coast Subby with no rust. Welcome to the board:D . Tim
