Well, I've had it with fighting the head gasket war!!! Just got off the phone with Emily and it should be on it's way next week. That is where all of you come in..... I'll be attempting to do the engine swap myself with a little help from YOU:) . Most of you know me as a fairly competent mechanic, but this is venturing into new territory. I'll keep you posted on progress and even include pictures!!! Later and thanks in advance, Tim

here's a strut riddle.........
chef_tim replied to chef_tim's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nicely done lad!!! and with the part number, they are indeed 2wd struts. Can't wait to get back into OEM 4wd struts . Later, Tim -
Struts are blue, made in England part numbers 71786 drivers side and 71785 passenger side Tell me, oh tell me, what is the name brand?? These are the struts on DRTYGRL (87 GL Wagon) What I really want to know is the application cause they seem to sit to low even with 4" strut extenders. Thanks, Tim

so much for my great dealership

From my understanding this all kind of erupted over a law suit in IA for deceptive business practices. It was one of those JD Byrider type places that will give you in house financing but at a high intrest rate. (Just another case of not taking responsibility on the purchasers end if you ask me). Now there is a state senator involved who worked for the bank/took campagnine money/signed off on loans. Just nasty all the way around. I'd say from the news reports, that there was mismanagment on his part, but who know till it all comes out in the wash. Tim -
Do a title search in the new gen side, most find it revolting to be kind:lol: Tim

I agree 100%. People see that and think "must not be a very good car" or "I bett they're junk, can't keep a dealer in business" etc etc. I'm really hopeing someone gets in there and buys the place. Later, tim -

The Subby specific adaptor is awesome and a cheap fix. I've got them on two of my old 'ru's and they work great. Saves alot of heart ache for about $15!! Later, Tim -

suggestion of possible spoiler for RX
chef_tim replied to eddygordouk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's just what I was thinking. Unless your planning on driving at 120+ mph for extended periods the stock wing will be just fine, and it will look "correct" for the car. Tim -
please, please HELP(alternator problem)
chef_tim replied to bella's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just replace the whole Alternator, it might be a bad regulator. Don't worry about your command of the english language, you do better then a few who speak it as there first language:) . Later, Tim -
If you need to tap for a Heli-coil, coat the tap with axle grease. Most of the shavings will stick to it and come out with the tap. Tim
