  1. outbacks?? I really want to keep the look it had... Tom
  2. Yeah, kissed a tree last weekend in it... Nothing too horendous and needs some body work and a lil paint... Need a couple parts... Off to the for sale forums Ignitor got a little wet doing some bogging so this was unloading it to replace the ignitor Then this is what the tree did later in the day Luckily it just missed the frame rail. I already have the wheel apron cut from a junkyard legacy and I have a wanted thread for the rest of the parts we will need. Tom
  3. Months later, I finally got around to working on it again. Been kicking around the shop for long enough:rolleyes: Pics and some video of us shooting around our lot. Still needs fans wired in ( i have proform push fans) and I need to figure out why the dash is no longer working... (it was before:rolleyes:) Tom
  4. I just got finished swapping a front ring and pinion into a 89 XT6 along with a SVX LSD 4.44 rear diff. Pics and more info can be found HERE It was definately interesting and it feels a lot quicker than the old 3.70 gears that were in it. The SVX LSD was used with SVX inner CV stubs and rebuilt joints. Figured someone here might be interested in the info Tom
  5. problem is, the EG33 has individual coil packs just over the plugs so there is no way to see it. best thing to do would be to take all the coils out, reseal them with some dielectric silicone and replace all the plugs (good idea whiel the coils are out). This will more than likely do the trick if there is spark leak anywhere Tom
  6. we have one in the shop right now. 99 with a 2.5 that went to hell... Got an EG33 shoehorned into it and will be just a little while more till it is done. 5mt conversion too:) Should be a fun car Tom
  7. After 11hrs of re-wiring the car cranks over and runs. Still need to work out fuel pump managment and check to see if anything on the dash is gonna work. Hopefully there are no quirks with the TCU either... here is to hoping Tom
  8. Thats just the thing. Just because the duty cycle increases and allows for slip does not mean it is slipping. It is designed so it does not bind, but when driving relatively straight (most of your driving) the transfer clutches do no slip at all, the duty cycles is merely to keep the car from seeing too much stress when it is not appropriate. Tom
  9. update: I tried to wire a SVX OBDII harness into the Legacy harness for simplicity, that was an utter failure and to track down the promlems would be stupid it would take so long. So back to square one with the wiring going OBDI and just wiring the TCU into it seperately... I just need to figure out how the 2 wire speed sensor goes into the dash because the new one has to be a 3 wire... This aughta be fun:rolleyes: Tom
  10. I would not be shocked to find the transfer clutches are still within spec... They do not see all that much action unless you religiously are on terrain in which the front-rear is always changing. on the road, they really see a tiny bit of slip every once in a while. There is more at play here than just clutches, has to be Tom
  11. sub 200k which is why I am surprised... I have worked on and owned SVXi with more mileage than this car with fullu functioning AWD Tom
  12. gotcha, got a customer with absolutely no hint of the rear drive, most likely thing I can think of without opening it up first is that the drum was sheared off. That or the cross tube is popped off inside and bleeding down pressure. Extremely worn clutch pack will still give a hint to spin, this has nothing. i did a TPS test and it was set properly and functioning properly as well. I also kept the key in the on position while not running to make sure that the solenoid was switching on and off. Like I said, this is the only thing I can think of as the SVX is fairly common to shear them off esp. when that thrust bearing wears on the drum surface Tom
  13. Hey, when you have the covers off your are not looking for missing teeth on the belt, you are looking to see if the timing is aligned properly. Tom
  14. Is it common in the 4 cylinders to sheer off the transfer drum from the output shaft?? I know the SVX does it very well but is it common for you guys?? Tom
  15. Yes... Still needs some water/meth injection badly but that will not happen till the spring... I am also upping to EM to a hydra standalone. Thats neither here nor there. This SUS was dying from a blown HG and rather than fix the tard 2.5 they come with... why not give it some more juice?? Perfect rally machine when we are done... Pics to come soon. This project will be for sale once its completed Tom
  16. Can you check the timing?? Just be sure the cams line up with the back covers... Sounds like the pass side cam might be of a tooth or 3 Tom
  17. You heard it right. AWD Inc is transplanting an EG33 into a 99 SUS. We are keeping the 4.44 geared AWD auto trans. Biggest stumbling block right now is the radiator but it looks like we will have to cut the upper rad support to make room. Keep your eyes peeled for pics of progress Tom
  18. Two of my good friends from Subaru-svx.net and myself have opened a new kind of Subaru shop in New Jersey. Being well versed in most Subies I had been asked to post here about the new shop for anyone in need of some maint. or would like a place to go for good work at much less than dealer prices. We also offer many different services which include but are not limited to transmission and differential swaps. Auto to MT swaps (much easier on imprezza/legacies than SVXi:)) Engine swaps and upgrades (currently have a SUS EG33 project getting built right now). We all own varying kinds of Subarus and we all know they need regular maint. We also all know that upgrading them can be a ton of fun. We are here to comply to your wishes:). Feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions. Tom
  19. motor is done and mostly through a break-in period. I will be drag racing at Atco this thursday as long as I can find a 6 rib 580" belt in time:headbang: Tom
  20. there are at least 2 now that I know of in Aust. I do the custom work for others to convert their SVXi so I need to have one myself eh? Tom
  21. but of course... thats my 6mt svx in that pic. Tom
  22. Now put one of these in there!!!! Tom
  23. it has been done now... Huck swapped an EG33 into his XT and its a pretty bad lil machine from what I have heard Tom
  24. Well for all of you guys looking to make big power. The aftermarket for the EG33 just opened up for us over at the SVX network. My engine build will be like a couple others who have invested to get Rods, pistons, and an entire new valve train made up for us. But for more info check it all out at www.Subaru-svx.net and check under mod mania. The sub-forum is ECUtune projects where you will find threads about all of what I am talking about... Just a heads up for any swappers Tom
