  1. So I recently read a thread about downloading factory pdf files from the subaru website. 34 bucks for 72 hours of access. Does anyone know that if I pay this 34 dollars, will I be able to download the whole manual and then just keep it on my computer. Has anyone allready done this and could i get you to email me some of the pages so i can see if they are anygood. thanks taylor
  2. I had this problem on my 93 accord and actually ran out of gas. My light was good. I checked this by connecting a jumper wires from two of the terminals at the sending unit. I think this tricked the car into thinking that the tank was empty. Also the instrument cluster is SUPER easy to remove. You can check the bulb that way just make sure to not turn on any electical or just disconect the negative at the battery while the cluster is out. I bought a new sending unit and this fixed the problem. My understanding is that subies have two sending units and I think you will need to check both but I am not sure. You can remove the sending unit and hook up an ohmmeter. The resistance should be 50 at empty and should change steadily as you move the float to full. At full the resistance should be one ohm. I would recommend buying the factory manual for your subie. I had one for the honda and it helped me out a bunch with these very specific problems. Hope this helps.
  3. So i need to disengage my engine when i flush my power steering fluid through the return hose after I put in my new steering rack. My plan is to flush fresh fluid through the resevoir and high pressure line then put in my new rack and connect the lines then disconect the return line from the resevoir and crank the engine in short bursts till it runs clean. What do you guys think. Can I remove the fuel pump relay?? Any other suggestions?? Thanks
  4. To anyone else reading this when i was putting in a new radio on my 98 outback i spliced the power to my cig lighter to a always hot wire so i could charge my phone while i'm away. it works great.
  5. Thanks, thats super helpful, did you flush out your system and if so is it pretty simple??
  6. So my steering rack is leaking and and I ordered one from checker (reman). Does anyone forsee any problems that I might run into, especially with disconnecting the tierods from the steering knuckles. also, will i need to flush out the steering system and if so how can i do that, just pour fluid through?? any tricks for loosening frozen exaust manifolds?? thanks.
  7. I have a 98 legacy outback limited and was wondering if anyone had a shop manual to recommend. There are a few different ones on ebay. Thanks
  8. The trip meter simply is stuck between all 4444 and 5555. Usually i wouldn't care but i use these meter's to figure out gas mileage. I can get a new speedo unit used for 50 bucks. But i don't want to have to pay someone to match the mileage on the odometer. It doesn't appear to be to difficult to pull the instrument cluster, but i am concerned about matching mileage. Thanks!!
  9. Hello, I am on the verge of purchasing a 98 Legacy OB and the resetable trip meter is broken. Will i have to replace the whole speedometer unit and have the miles matched to a new or used one or can I just replace the part in question. Thanks Taylor
