  1. I recommend everyone with these issues to report the problem at the nhtsa Office of Defects website at: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/ If you think going down the highway at 75mph and the HG blows or tranny goes is not a safety issue, think again. They do take complaints seriously. My Story: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=929236

  3. I myself did not check the tranny fluid but the dealership did. Basically I was told that when the technician checked the fluids, he found that the tranny was low and the Gearbox was overfilled so he drained the Gearbox to the correct level and filled the tranny fluid to the correct level. After that he took the car out for a drive and it was driving fine. Once he got back to the shop, the fluids levels were checked again and he found the tranny fluid level was low and the differential fluid was high leading to the conclusion that the seal between the diff and trans was bad and the fluids were mixing. BTW I very much appreciate your answers since I am quite worried and at this point need as much advice I can get on what to do next.
  4. My 2002 outback with 72000 miles had the transmission go as well. I was told that the differential and tranny fluids were mixing since the internal seals were bad. So the tranny fluids would get low and the tranny failed to engage properly or would slip. My other thread has details. I would like to ask the experts here if it is even worth re-sealing or better off getting a new remanufactured tranny. I don't want the symptoms showing up again in a short time. Thank you for the replies.
  5. Please read about it in the NASIOC forums at http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12473892#post12473892 I need any advice that you can offer.
