  1. cool. i wasn't sure. I know there is some "after 10 years parts are discontinued" or something. I also meant to say that i am seriously considering it. however, i am leaning more towards waiting for a pick up. I love subarus but i could really use the bed and such.
  2. the owner got the heater working. I am not seriously considering buying this. I still dunno though as i like being able to get parts around the corner from autozone with my 97...
  3. yes but i would need the fuel gauge working because this wouldn't be a trail rig. i guess i'd have to find a junk yard with an EA81 model vehicle? i would assume they all use the same sending unit.
  4. checked it out, i couldn't crawl underneath but overall it looked rather clean. It does have some minor cancer around the front of the rear fenders and along the bottom of the door frames. Took it for a quick round the block. felt solid. I would need to use this as my daily driver as i would be selling my current impreza....so without heat and a fuel gauge its not very practical right now. I need to see if i can source the parts to get those fixed and i might put a bid in. the interior is well, enough said, definitely not buying one of these for their interiors, especially this one. any idea what the fix is for the fuel gauge not reading. My gut is the sending unit but it that a separate entity or does it come with the pump? more importantly, will it pass inspection in NJ? lastly. Is the original owner who had the car still around on here? I'd like to know what wires were chopped up behind the HVAC before i decide to spend many of hours out in the cold figuring out someone else's wire job.
  5. going to go check it out in a little.... concerned about rust and the like. as i said, i really have been looking to a late 80's early 90's yota pick up but if this thing is nice enough and the owner comes down in price, maybe. i already have a set of swampers and a perfectly good 95 2.2L engine.
  6. haha go figure. small world. I have been looking for a used toyota pick up in all honesty since i want to haul my kayak and road bike around, but this thing just caught my eye.
  7. going to look at a 84 wagon tomorrow. not sure if i want to get into something that old. I am driving a 97 impreza L right now but its an auto and i hate automatics. The wagon would also let me haul my tools around for work too. here is the link... http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/994367964.html i know the 84's came with a 4spd. So either its an 85 or the seller is incorrect. either way i am gonna have a look. How hard is sourcing parts for these now a days?
  8. Wow, new jersey people. I live in south jersey near cherry hill. Once my car is back on the road i'd love to meet up one weekend.
  9. 95 imprezza, outback struts and forester springs(probably incorrect seating in the rear? I still have a clunk). 27inch Super swamper ssr's with some washers on the studs and some shaving of the inside knobs. Still need to tweak. I would like to go to a 14 inch wheel with a slightly smaller tire.
  10. i was told that the impreza had a lot of different components compared to the outback/legacy. I was told this by the guys from allied armarment. The steering linkage and rear strut tops being the two easiest to spot i believe. I'd still love to lift my imp with outback struts more(who has sat in the driveway since last summer ). Btw, i am posting this on my open source box(xubuntu).
  11. This is my post in a long time but here is my view of the situation. I have an imp L with auto that will be finally a manual 5spd in a few weeks or so. The auto is nice but the concern of bashing the pan in and overheating it were always on my mind while off roading it. I figure i'll lose a bit of torque and some control in favor of not worrying about the tranny pan being ripped off as i go up a hill, over some rocks or into a mud hole. I also found no decent way of adding a skid guard for the tranny pan. I'd rather trade possibly getting towed home for getting stuck more(with the 5spd). Thats me though.
  12. i'm back. with questions. Where can i mount some tow points. After getting dicked over by a certain someone, i have no steel bumper to put mounts on. Cant i put hooks or d-rings anywhere else?
  13. to clarrify: forester struts are not the same height as outback struts. They are a hair shorter on the lower perch...just enough to make a difference. I installed forester struts under after eveyrone said they were the same. To my surprise when trying to wedge 27in ssr's ont he car, that they just would not clear the struts without alot of spacers on the wheel studs...requiring new wheel studs so i had to eat the forester struts and get outbacks. my car has been sitting in the driveway since august because i cracked the windshield and deployed my air bags off roading...and it took me time to aquire a parts car with undeployed bags(and a full manual drivetrain). Reguardless, i still had to shave the inside nobs a bit on the tire(27inch ssr's) so they wouldnt rub the inside of the frame rear wheel well/frame. I also had to cut the fender and marine-tex the body and inner fender together(with the coupes, when your trim the rear fender, it splits the body apart leaving a line to the inside cabin. I still have a bump/clunk in the rear with the new struts and springs. I have a feeling the forester spring with impreza top on outback strut is the cause....as the spring doesnt fill the perch of the outback strut all the way...Still gonna try to throw a littl ebit of impact on the tops to see if i didnt tighten them all the way. nice looking impreza. BTW, i have a 95 coupe with an auto.
  14. you would be correct, atleast, from what i read. ideally, bald all seasons probably work the best, but i have never driven in any kind of serious sand(new jersey has alot of sand, but i've never been on the beach).
