  1. Hi: There's an audible click or light clunk when I put my car into reverse to back out of the car port. The side wall of the carport amplyfies the sound I'm certain. Should the gearbox fluid level be checked in the morning beore starting? I went to pick up stuff at the hardware store and checked it when it came out, it read ok. Last night it read low. It was sitting on a slight uphill but nothing major. The clutch is also grabby causing some engine shaking when I have to feather the clutch, usually because a guy in front of me is indecisive in a left turn at an intersection. Any ideas? -Gareth
  2. Found it, and thanks. It was right on a shade under low explaining the clunking noise and the slightly difficult engagement of reverse and first! -G
  3. Hey fella's: My gearbox on my `94 Legacy 5 spd, is a bit clunky. I was gonna check the gearbox fluid level. On my old 5spd Loyale if you removed the spare wheel behind/over the engine there was a dipstick that I could check that with. Unfortunately I have no Haynes manual for my Legacy and don't know where to look!? Can anyone help? Thanks, -Gareth
  4. Hey Guys: I was getting an intermmitent engine check light on my `94Legacy Alpine Sport. It seems to have gone a way after a couple 1000 miles as it had been sitting in the cold for 4 months, however I still want to know what code(s) it threw. Problem is I can't find the under dash LED as it was on my `93 Loyale? Anyone know where I can look. I'm trying to find a Haynes Manual locally but I'd like to check this out tomorrow if possible. Can anyone help? BTW: what the last year you can get the 2.2 liter? Thanks, Gareth
  5. Hey: what are the tire make and model and what rims are they mounted on? Thanks, Romcat
  6. Hey all: I was thinking of converting to a 15" wheel set on my Legacy "Alpine Sport" when the tires wear out. I'd like to go to a bigger wheel/tire combo to improve highway mileage. I do not want to go with say 15" wheels and lower profile tires. What I'm asking is, is there room for a 15" wheel/60 or 70 series combo in the wheel arches? Thanks, Romcat
  7. Hey Guys; Just bought a real nice tidy `94 Legacy "Alpine Sport" wagon. Does anyone know if I can install a "GT" wagon spoiler from the same year? Also is there a window rain "visor" kit available for this car? Thanks, Romcat
  8. Hi guys: Does anyone know what would be normal compression on a `94 2.2 legacy motor. I had a friend check a possible buy for me and he got 175-182 PSI for the 4 cylinders. The car has been beautifully taken care of so it may reflect normal for it. I just can't find the spec online! Cheers, Romcat
  9. Hi Soobers: I'm looking at a beautiful `94 Legacy Alpine Sport Wagon to buy and I'm having a friend swing by and do a compression test. Does anyone know what spark plug socket he should take? I can't find the info on line. It seems 5/8th is right, can anyone help??? Thanks, Gareth (`93 Loyale AWD)
  10. Nope this took place long before the Forrester came along, Saab had done it the year before, and Soob wanted t make a point. -Gareth
  11. Hey Soobers: Does anyone remember what year Subaru went to I think Talladega and ran a couple of Legacy's for 24 hours at 132mph. can't seem to find it on the web. Anyone remember this? Do you have a link? Cheers, Gareth
  12. Hi Listie's" Anyone know any reason that a 1.8ltr. `91 MFI engine wouldm't just drop into a `93 engine bay? Is the FI system the same? When was the Loyale SPFI and when MPFI? Thanks all, Gareth
  13. Hey Listers: With the next set of repairs to be completed Tuesday, ex man gasket replaced, new O2 sensor EGR serviced... We'll see how it runs then. I'm thinking about the suapension. It's rather stiff in my 93 Loyale 4WD wagon so I thought maybe to replace the current shock/spring sets with stronger shocks and softer springs. That should improve the ride. Anyway I though I'd canvas the group for ideas??? Cheers, Gareth
  14. Hey: A code 35 from the ECM. Cheers, Gareth
  15. Hey Listers" Hey what are people paying for MAF Sensors out there. How about O2 sensors. Lastly I probably need to replace the Gas Vapor Cannister. Any place this can be gotten except Subaru? Thanks, Gareth
