  1. Is there a color-coded wiring diagram for an early Legacy available online? girlfriend has a 94 Legacy wagon whose HEATER BLOWER has not worked since the engine was replaced 2 years ago. fuses are good--my next step is to try hot-wiring to test blower motor and then replacing the RELAY. however there are some wires that are NOT HOOKED UP--by the drivers right knee. if I could figure out what color the wires need to be then maybe I can give it some power. TIA.
  2. a friend of mine is driving across country and has a presumed blown head gasket in her 99 outback 2.5. going to be towed to Jack Miller Subaru. anyone know anyone who could put her up for a few days, she is currently looking for a dog-friendly motel. help out a traveler in need, she is en-route moving to Oregon from NC.
  3. I'm mainly a bus guy so I'll take the liberty of chiming in. you're absolutely right that stiff tires make a huge difference in van handling. LT tires will work, Load range C is "6 ply rating" OK if greater than 1500 lb load rating. less than that is generally not safe best tires for a stock bus or vanagon are 195 or 185R14C (no middle number, C here is suffix commercial/reinforced sidewall) all of these are rated at 1800-2000 lb rating (97+), Load Range D. there are only a few manufacturers of 185R14C, Michelins are super expensive, Wynstar Phaser is a chinese michelin good value, Hankook RA08 is what I have run in the past, currently using the Continental VancoWinter from TireRack, they also have a few other Continental Vanco tires. Yokohama makes the Y356 but it is not M+S rated. Vredestein makes a summer (non M+S) and a winter tire as well super stiff at about $100 ea. Probably best bet if you can find the Hankooks locally, it's a good tire.
  4. this is my girlfriends car, and my first post. 93 legacy 4WD Like my title says, looking for a shop in Atlanta to replace the clutch or is this a job I could do myself? I change engines on aircooled VW's once I did the clutch on an 88 Golf. where are the recommended parts places? online, mail order or local import shop. someone recommended the "exidy" kit. the car is making a BAD gravelly noise all the time when clutch is NOT engaged. Engaging clutch stops the noise. also it's starting to slip bad, I'm telling her it's TIME before she gets stranded on the side of the road. any help welcome. also a link to the step by step procedure or if anyone could write one up quick I would be grateful. like--about the anti-dive bone thing, how many bolts to remove where, etc. what is the recommended shop manual? I think I have the tools I need, unless there are any special tools required--are there?? TIA Will in Atlanta '70 VW Westfalia '72 Porsche 911T '75 BMW 2002
