  1. Well I haven't really done anything to this in awile, but last week I was slamming it together to get it to a car show today. About the only new thing is I got the skid plates bolted on......semi bolted on. Lol. And to certify it as a current trailer queen...... Ironic since it's still only RWD. Lol.
  2. Will the fat case EA71 bell housing bolt to an early EA71 engine? If so that would allow the use of any of the EA81 and EA82 transmissions would it not?
  3. It will have to be from an EA71 1600 with the starter mounted on the top. "not to be confused with the EA71 1600 fat case engine with the side mount starter"
  4. Either way that is a sweet really clean ride. I would try not to cut it up to much.
  5. The 5 speed swap will be very easy. You just need to find a good 1600 5 speed. Any of the 1600 5 speeds should bolt up in your car. Your best bet is to try and find a whole doner car in a junk yard so you can get all the parts out of it, but you could probably gather all the nessesary parts on here if you make a post in the wanted section. The idea of using a duel range 5 speed would be much more difficult as you would need to at least swap in an EA81 engine and fugue out how to cap off the rear output shaft and in not sure the tranny would even fit.
  6. Cherry picker!? All you need is another guy on the other side and yank it rite out of there.
  7. I would have been happy running the 1400 I just couldn't find one that didn't have an oil pan full of rod bearing and at the time I just wanted to slap a motor in it and get some driving in before winter came. I had a running 1600 so that's what it got. The hitachi is pretty simple really. Have you taken it apart and cleaned it out yet? The idle circuit has very small passages in it and can get clogged up by the smallest particle. I would change the fuel filter and install a better inline filter after the pump. Only after I installed another in line filter did I stop having problems with my idle getting screwed up.
  8. I'm definitly gonna need fenders and a hood for that 73 coupe I got from ya. I might be looking for a front and rear valance too depending on if I can fix what's on there now or not. It would be nice if I could just make another trip down there this summer and stock up.
  9. I can agree with that. Original vintage is cool and pretty good on gas. Althoe the 5 speed is kinda a necessity if you really want to drive it anything further than around town. An EA81 swap should be pretty simple without to much butchering of the original car and these things are so lite there still pretty quick and fun to drive with little power.
  10. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/126561-74-dl-sedan-1400-4speed-to-1600-5speed-swap/ Try that maybe?
  11. Wow! Is that the original paint? Very super clean! It's the two door version of my car only with way better looking paint! The 1600 swap is pretty strait forward, it's the 5 speed swap that is a little trickier. Take a look for my 5 speed swap thread it should tell you everything you need to know to get it done.
  12. And yes I still have it and no it's still not done. I've been slacking again.
  13. Well you should know the bolt spacing for the struts is SVX specific and then obviously there is the ball joints........and the hole for the tie rod end is also bigger. Oh and the ball joints are alot beefier.......impossible to find new, but yes stronger. On second thought you might be better off with some STi hubs. Lol.
  14. Been a busy month, but started mocking up the skid plates the other night. Figured I'd get the shapes and holes sorted out with wood first since I'd rather not mess up with the 1/4" aluminum plate. Lol. Also a shot of my big brakes and pretty spindles. And still not 4wd. Lol.
  15. Damn! That dash is super clean! Your so lucky I didn't grab that when I was down there! Lol.
  16. Well. I have a brand new never used high roll bar, but probably not cheap.......what you looking to spend?
  17. When the time is rite. Lol. But look! I got it muddy already.
  18. I also got the t-case mount all set. The e-brake all hooked up. Had to tie the two single e-brake cables together. A simple cable clamp worked pretty good. I got a bunch of other stuff done. Just havnet taken the pics yet since I had no one to share them with. Lol.
  19. Yay I can finally post again! I was locked out of the forum for awile. Now let's see, where was I? Well I got the frame rot fixed and built the new wheel well for the left front.
  20. Lol. Thanks. So I figured I'd start cutting out the front wheel wells and along the way I found this. Yup. Could have done without that. Guess I'm not done with rot repair after all.

    Snow!

Chevy's not a dually. Extra cab though. Heavy rigs in deep snow are screwed when they slide sideways. I took the Jimmy many many hard hits to get him out. They broke both Cast tow horns off the front end, and many tow ropes. Agreed. Got cought in a snow storm up in the mountains of Vermont last winter in my girlfriends F-350 dually with brand new all seasons on it.(litteraly had them put on that morning) I don't think I've ever driven so slow in the snow in my life! I didn't like it at all! I pulled over and let her drive the rest of the way. Lol.
  22. Didnt get to work on it nearly as much as I had hoped this weekend. Just changed the really bad front wheel bearing and got the fenders cut out. Damn holidays mess everything up!

    Snow!

Lol. Awesome pics! Almost makes me wish we had snow rite now......except my cars not done yet and the all seasons on the Brat would probably not be spectacular in the snow. Lol.
  24. Oh yeah. Nothing crazy yet. Just finished the last of the rot repair. Just gotta seal it up and wait for my body filler to come in so I can make it all pretty.
