cv, head gasket and timing belt question
esh replied to esh's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
cheers for the reply. currently downloading the HTKYSA book. still, anyone know about the CV? I've got an old loyale 4wd with possibly good cv to go on my 94 L series (ea82). -
1) are the CVs on the ea81 and ea82 the same? 2) what do I need for a head gasket change (parts and tools)? 3) and for timing belt change?

they are proper 4wd flaring. you can get them by the metter at rubber shops. thes ones without wire insert. I also added another strip of plain rubber to widden the mud flaps cause I like the stock ones

thanks for the link. another question: what kind of t-case is that?Lada? Nissan? and what is the second shifter for?
-
I did a search and found a lot of bits and pieces but nothing that gave the full picture. thanks

I was trying to find a thread about how to.. T-case and I couldn't find one. can any one explain the principle of that mod and what do you need? I was thinking about 8-12" lift on a brat with a Niva T-case.

do you know whos brat is this? this is not a photoshop work http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=476&si=differential&what=allfields

you can get them on e-bay but I got then from a rubber shop. much cheaper 4 meters for AU$ 47. and I have plenty left. I don't know if you noticed but I used a 60 mm strip of rubber for widening the original mud flaps

after a warning I got from the cops about my off-set I decided I have to put the flares on if I don't want to get a yellow sticker. also trimmed the front fenders. http://subaruesh.spaces.live.com/photos/

a lot of the subaru 4wd in Israel are white simply because they are ex-goverment owned cars.

just use a very big size drill bit. (you might need to use a press drill)

I found this link on the Israeli subaru forum: http://pic.hevre.co.il/UserAlbum.asp?uid=8FFA2CFBEC334369A561A0CAE12395C1&alid=

ya, very soft. you got to have your tyres with low pressure 7-10 otherwise you'll get bogged and in some places it's just like quick send. I"m currently running on re-drilled rims 185/75 road tyres. looking for 15" rims now with minimal positive offset.

took my subi down the beach or actually, took the camera down the beach. I take the subi every second day to the beach but I always forget to take a camera so this time I did. http://subaruesh.spaces.live.com/photos/

I just re-drilled the mount of the stabilizer rod about 1 cm rear to the original hole. it fitted perfectly.

has anyone had any issues with the speedo cable while doing a 3" lift on ea82? mine was too short and was pulled out of the dash. also, the gear stick wouldn't go in 1, 3 & 5. I had to move the plastic cover of the gear stick few mm forward.
-
the lift is not byb, it's: http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/home.htm the plate should go on top according to the instructions and the block is not turning around. this is how I put it. is there a way to fix the driveshuft or do I have to replace it?

I'm running 3" hi rise lift. cheers guys

I got 6 stud 14" rims that I drilled. I don't know which car they came from but with a 195/75 tyre and 3" lift they rub at the rear of the guard when turning, just where the mud protector is. I'm not sure how to measure offset but I measured 95 mm from the hub to the edge of the rim (on the outside) and they do look like they stick out a bit. what kind of offset do you guys have? is that to much offset? is it worth bitting/cutting and how to? http://subaruesh.spaces.live.com/photos/

sorry, but I'm not sure I know what drive line is. do you mean driveshuft? if you do then no, I didn't disconnect it. and don't under stand why there should be any changes in angles. it's a body lift, it shouldn't change any angles. when I think about it, the angles of the driveshuft do change becuase I used 2" blocks for the driveshuft and the gear, when the rest of the lift is 3". do you think this might be the problem?
