  1. Any suggestions on a good place to have an insepction done on the east metro. I'm hoping to not spend more than 60. I am lookng at a 2005 outback with 82 k miles. does this sound safe. Do they start breaking down at 100K.
  2. any thoughts on a 2005 with 85 K miles? A little more than I would like but it looks like a nice car.
  3. what can anyone tell me about the sport shift. I really would like a manual transmission but in tight metro traffic an auto might be nice is the sport stick even close?
  4. I think it is a typo. i did a carfax check on it and it has no 3.6. What about 2005 though. Any defects bad seals or head gaskets or anything?
  5. Hello kind subaru folk, i have been looking for a new car for the past month or so. I have landed back at an outback. I was first looking toward a newer impreza (new body style) since I want AWD and a fifth door or cargo space. i didn't like those that I saw and finding a manual in that car in the twincities that is in my price range is difficult. So I am about to decide on a outback 2.5 ltd 2005 Make: Subaru Model: Outback Miles: 68500 VIN: 4S4BP62C057350737 Stock #: Engine: 4-Cylinder 3.6 L Color: Blue Fully loaded Outback LT. New tires at 60,000 miles, new brakes at 45,000. Averaging 28.5 mpg, mostly highway driven. Interior blak leather, moon/sun roof, 6 disc CD changer, power/heated seats, front and side air bags. Are there any major flaws with this car. i did the carfdax which came back good but i am worried about head gaskets or mechanical things. I am going this route instead of a dealer where i could maybe get a warranty or something. knowing that subaru makes a great car i think i m good though. Any thoughts from anyone. thanks, craig
  6. I currently drive a '98 leagcay l. It has cost me a lot of money, I bought from the paper and got taken. Yet I do like the subaru particularly the AWD. I am not sure if a i want another wagon but I do like the cargo space. The new imprezas are nice I am not sure how many years the new body style goes back. I guess I am just asking for some ideas here. I don't want to go much over 12k. Any thoughts what about other makes like a toyate matrix or mazda 3 or others. Suggestions adice at all?
  7. Hey all. I currently drive a 98 leagacy L wagon. I rally like it other than the fact i have had to put a lot of money into due to making a poor newspaper purchase. I am looking to get a new car not brand new but different. I am hoping for something no older than a 2005. I wonder how the legacy sedan is. I also like the storage/flop down space of what I drive but am not so sure I want to get another wagon since I am a single man and it may not be so sensible. How is the impreza. Any other suggestions outside of subaru. toyta or honda maybe. I do want something with awd for the mn winters. Any thoughts are greatly appreaciated.
  8. definitely dents. I was able to pull the wheel well out some but the anchor to one of the headlights was broken loose. Rely huh? are those pricey?
  9. screw it I can't get the bulbs out to check. all the fuses seem intact i figure it is a pinched wire. i hope the shop can do an external wiring to make this a less expensive repair.
  10. alright checking bulbs. I wish I knew I am close to taking it in tomorrow morning
  11. I think the things i'm looking at may be relays but I'm not sure. Any suggestion on where I can find a better indication of what kind of fuse it would be?
  12. pull each fuse one at a time and see what goes out? Do you think it would be a little one or a one with a housing?
  13. I'm not certain which fuse is for the headlights but they all seem to be uncracked.
  14. oh yeah I drive a 98 legacy l wagon. I really hope it is just a fuse as I understand that eletrical stuff can be costly. Piinched wire maybe?
  15. Hello friends. I got into a bit of a finder bender this morning. Nothing too bad; I got hit while in the lft front quarter panel as I pulled away from a curb. Car is drivable but as the sun went dowon and I needed to use my headlights I ralized they weren't on. The marker lights on both sides come on but the actual headlamps do not and this is for both lft and rt sides. They high beams don't work either. Any suggestions on what this might be. I looked at the fuse box but did not have flashlight and am not sure which fuses it would be. Help please
  16. I also had a replacement engine put in last november not this past but last. It had about 38K miles on it although it is a 95. I bought from the paper/owner last time and got stuck with a car that had likely been airborne. I think a dealer might at least give me a warranty of some kind.?. suggestions on safe routes...for instance is carsoup safe?
  17. I've had my 98 legacy since 2004. I have put a lot into it but as I look for a new or different car i think I want to go with a subaru again. Any suggestions on years that are more reliable. I am looking for no older then a 2004 preferably 2005. I like the wagon but i like the AWD more. I figure I can spend up to 14k tops. In the time I have had my subaru I have had a new sub-frame placed, new rear lateral links, new wheels and tires in past three years, new clutch 2 yrs ago. a new alternator and battery in the past couple of weeks and new timing and alternator belt also. what kinds of trade value might I get. I have 146k miles on it. Just curious for tips or suggestion as I begin to hit the market. I am in the Minneapolis area.
  18. While I was driving home last night my car slowly died. It has been cold here, Minneapolis, so I think this is the culprit. I have known that my battery was bad for some time but done nothing about. AS I was driving the car's interior lights began to dim and the car slowed. to a stop. I had the alternator tested this summer and was told it was alright but the battery needed to be replaced. All of this leads me to believe all I need is a new battery. Now my car is in the shop and the shop is backed up so they won't be able to get to it for 2-3 hours. I'm thinking I can run and buy a battery and install it myself. I just don't know what kind of battery to get. I drive a 98 legacy l series wagon. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks:eek:

  20. Really I am asking for a friend although my 98 legacy does have the enigine light on all the time. I have been told it is an 02 sensor issue but that it is not such a big deal. I don't want to replace it if I really don't need to but i do want to know if the engince light is on for other reasons. My buddy is trying to get on for info about his 04 forester so all thoughts are apprecited.
