  1. I'll go lower them now. That's how they were when I bought it so I set the new ones just like the old ones. Do yout hink that will make the difference? that's waaaaay too much axle angle. lower those bad boys.
  2. Thanks guys for the response. Do you think that 3/8 inch at the strutt could cause the angles I'm seeing. Also, the drivers side is brand new re-maufactured. Could the shaft have pulled out of the joint during installation. Any other ideas?
  3. I've got a problem with my CV Shafts, I'm hoping some of you might be able tolook at this and tell me what the problem might be. I posted pictures at http://www.frontier-media.com/subarubrat/Subaru%20Brat.html (all the greese is from the old boot tear) Basicaly I installed new shafts from Marshal several months ago and the boot tore on one of them. Marshal went out of his way to help me and got my CV boot repaired quickly. He agreed it should not have torn so quickly so when I re-installed it I took some picures. I don't know what it is supposed to look like and the word I got was "something is not right!" My guess is the adjustment on the strutt but the thing is designed that way, again....looking for advice. The other thought is that it is a different tranny. The guy I bought it from said it had a new motor and tranny but that was as far as he got. It's an 85 brat and thank you for any information.
  4. Hello all, I bought my first brat about a month ago and have been quietly reading posts trying to avoid asking the same question you all have answered many times in the past. Through this post I've found the problem with my high RPM hesitation (both fuel filters) as well as info on coils and disc brake conversions. So here goes my first questions: sorry if the answers are out there, I couldn't find them. I need a cat, I'm looking at the catco for about $150 with both pipes from the heads and one out the back of the cat. Is this the "hi-flo" I read about? Is it a two wall construction like the stock? Once I pass smog I'll go for the SPFI, shold I be buing a cat system with ports for an O2 sensor? I need CV axles. (I just don't want to rebuild ones that have had torn boots for who knows how long) Any recomendations of where to buy these? I see them for about $100 ea. yet I have no idea about the quality and would love some input as to which to stay away from. Thanks for your time. I'm Bryan, I live in Manteca Ca., I own a video production company (of course I'm hoping to eventually capture some of you guys and your antics on film), and I ride a CR250, XR650R (with a baja kit) and a CBR1100xx as well as mountain bike, snowboard, and bowhunt. I'll try to help out here if I can, otherwise I'll stay oout of the way and learn. Cheers,
  5. Did you find the problem? My brat is doing the same thing and I'm still looking for a solution.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I just spent my first day a the recking yard. I found a turbo wagon with disc brakes and plan on swapping them while I do a 6bolt conversion. Two questions quickly if you don't mind. I'm sure they've been asked a million times. 1) I see turbo motors on e-bay for @$400. Is there a write up on swapping out my E81? for one of these turbos? 2) I'm interested in a lift yet I don't think I'm up for the issues with the gearing when the tires get too large. I'm considering a 4" with the 27 inch tires. Is there anyone on here with that setup and if so, how is the gearing. I'm already starting on the easy mods: Accell coil, 170-180 thermostat, etc. I'll be going through things like wheel bearrings, brakes, changing fluids etc (planning on amsoil unless you guys talk me out of it) just so that I know what I have. Thanks for your time,
  7. I'm really new to all this. I just bought an 85 brat and am in the process of learning. I'm going through all the posts and picking up info. Is this something you guys find necessary? What do I get for the $35? I appreciate the info and will contribute input if ever I get up to speed.
  8. I'm new to the Subaru world and came here looking for solutions to the issues I've got with the brat I just purchased. I had a toyota 4runner for many many years that did something very similar to what you are all describing. I found there were several circuits in tha alternator that produced output based on RPM. The midrange circuit went bad so the 4runner ran fine at low RPM's, hesitated at about 2400 and cleaned up past about 3500. Sometimes only when it got wet. Do the subaru alternators work the same way?
