  1. Just take your old used up $8 battery operated tooth brush and throw it in yer toolbox. you can even get replacement heads if ya want. Seems like the cheap gritty paste works better than the gel, 'cept ya don get the cool sparkley flakes ^^
  2. Down here in NC the old country folks swear by Kerosene in everything, tho I've never tried it, even in the coolent
  3. Get SIRIUS and forget about it. I use the FM tuner on my receiver in my 99OBS and always got static in the same places everyday on the way home. Found out if i just push my antenna all the way in (my antenna isnt power, it slides in and out by the windsheild), I get perfectly clear signal everywhere!! oh... except at the carwash, overhead structures block the incomming signal Bababooeeee!!
  4. Ya, i can tilt it where the counterweight releases the little red hook but the big brass catch still clicks and locks, just like on the old stuck one. I even installed it and it still sticks, as does the old one, when all the other 3 are working fine. I remember cheking it when i first got it and i could get it to work fine when holding it , and i had the old one out to compare and the old one still stuck, but now it acts just like the old one nothin i can do to make it stop catching. I'm hesitant to buy from a junkyard cause my son sits back there. Guess thy're gonna get me for yet another hundred bucks >< I may as well be makin car payments lol.
  5. Thanks for all the replies and info. I bled the master by putting threaded hose barb connectors in the line holes and attatched hoses going to jar of new fluid and pumping the pedal slowly. Reconnected the lines then bled at the calipers on front and the wheel cylinders on back. I used new fluid for eveything and old fluid was just a little dark, no trash or anything visible. No ABS. Although i havent taken the wheels off to see if the pads are seated, i have driven it and it stops about halfass if i pump a couple times. I'm not losing any fluid, i have checked everything, the level didnt drop from when i changed the front brake pads, tho it did after bleeding of course, and its at full at the moment. I know I shouldnt need to bleed them after just changin the pads but the pedal was fine until i changed them so thats the first thing i could think to try. After changin the front pads i slowly pumped the pedal and i did not stomp on it and it was soft from first pump, and still is. Maybe i'll try flush and pull off wheels for inspection this weekend. Thanks for your input, I'll post again after next try hehe.
  6. I decided to change the brake pads and shoes on my 99OBS. Did everything normal, filler cap off, compressed calipers, changed pads reassemble everything, replaced cap, pump brakes till tight, start car and spongy pedal goes to the floor. turned car off checked fluid, it never went back down from compressing calipers. So i decide to go ahead and do the back shoes and bleed everything. I bleed master cylinder, all 4 according to directions here(fr.pass, rr.dr, fr.dr, rr.pass) No air comes out of anything, no leaks and nothin changes... is this another $100+ mastercylinder fix? Everything seems to be $100+ for this dang car its frustrating the heck outta me. Please help.
  7. 99OBS rear passenger seatbelt stuck and wouldnt pull out, tried everything. Other side was and still is fine. So i pay rediculous $120 from dealership for new one. This part may be my fault i dunno, but, a year later (today) i decide to install it, now its stuck. Tried everything and it wont pull out enough to bolt bottom side down. It worked fine i remember when i bought it just tilt it around the right way and it would go in and out, but today nothin. So i went ahead and tried to install it and still nothin. I really dont wanna buy another and not sure where receipt is, they prob wont take it back anyway. Any suggestions? Why do they stick?
  8. Cool, thanks for the info, sounds hopeful. I'll try it this mornin!
  9. I'm certain I installed it in the right direction. I didn't have the flywheel turned. I couldnt get the pilot out so i left the old one, it seemed ok. Not sure about the 2 step, whats that mean? I got clutch from United Imports auto parts, a local place. I just told them i have 93 loyale 2wd and they gave me a clutch kit. I didn't adjust the cable either, guess I'll have to try that, but it's late and dark in my yard I just turned her over to test and i got all that mess.
  10. Just finished changin the clutch on my 93' Loyale. This was my first time ever changin one. I did the ol' radiator pull engine slide etc. Changed disk, pres. plate and release bearing. Started her up and there was squeeling. I guess thats the release bearing. It stopped after a minute but I cant get into gear and the pedal is very soft. Fork seems to be movin ok. I did'nt disconnect the cable or anything, everything seemed to it in ok with install but somethings obviously very wrong ><. Guess I gotta bust it open again. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Man, I have such great luck with cars...
  11. Heh, i had a friend who totalled his Yugo by hitting a pothole. Haha, it bent the frame, i think the insurance co. only gavem $1000 and it was only a few years old.
  12. RRRRRR!!! Now I got the Subaru tick!!! Just went out to mess with the code thingy, started it up, all was good...then it came!!! I was sooo happy cause it was very quiet, so quiet you almost couldnt tell it was running, but now, arrg!!! Maybe the oil broke down from runnin hot? I killed it and restarted, it doesnt do it right off, not intil it runs for a minute or I start revvin, then it comes and doesn't go away. Well, time for it's first oil change by me. I'll get the Mystery oil i guess? Thanks for your input guys!
  13. Heh, the whole story? I'll have to start back in April of 2004. Went campin with the scouts one weekend, left all our gear in the Honda. 2days later the 3 cars were stolen. Flashfoward: went campin with the scouts one weekend this May, left all our NEW replacement gear in the jeep.(which I recovered later.) 2 days later: NC back roads have very little if no shoulder and most roads are about 6 inches thick from the ground. Well, the wife went off a bit and pulled the wheel back to the left. When the tire finally caught she went into the oncoming lane towards a UPS truck! (Did i mention this was on a left-hand curve?) So she jerked it back to the right and hit some wet grass(it was early in the morn) and sailed thru the basement of the house, going thru 2 walls, takin out the whole corner, and stopped in the backyard. Luckily it was cinder block about 7 feet high so the actual house wasn't bashed, just the block. It's a miracle noone was hurt(she broke her finger!) Now, for the Subaru: I checked the codes, i get 5 quick pules then a pause then 5 quick pulses again, over and over. Didn't see that on the USRM. I tried to clear the codes but the light is still on Also it seems to be running hot, although it's not actually in the red zone but stays up close. I'm gonna add some coolant and change the thermostat tomorrow.
  14. Wife drove it thru the basement of a house. No injuries, it's a miracle! So I bought a 1993 Loyale for $550 yesterday. 1 owner 204k miles 2wd 5sp really clean and upkept forgot to mention cold as ice A/C!!!! This things a steal! It runs great and no engine noise! The only thing is a check engine light is on. Well, I'll post some pics when I find my camera. Should this be on the new gen board? Seems like an old gen car, oh well!
