  1. There actually is a bit of rust that we foudn there! Thanks for the advice and I am going to be sanding it down and re-doing that area of the car as well as cleaning out that whole part. I will hopefully be picking her up on Wednesday or thursday. BTW it has 100k not 102k...Less mileage for the win! I already have an intake and an exhaust that I am getting for free for the car from a friend who sold his car. Also going on the car are my stock wrx wheels painted gold and the stock leather shift knob from my wrx. Should make for a bit of bling...Nothing to over the top though because it is a daily driver. I refuse to spend any money besides on worn parts, maintenence, and cleaning supplies. OH and when this car is not my daily driver anymore in a couple of years, a v7 STi motor swap might be a nice project:headbang:
  2. Guys its getting a bit ridiculous with how many messages I have regarding carfaxes....I don't mind doing it but just know that it might take a day or two.
  3. because I have been looking at a ton of Subarus lately, I can honestly say with the knowledge that I have gained...no more than 200 bucks if the car is in GREAT working shape.....100-150 would be my average offer.
  4. The guy with the 96 legacy wagon never showed up today.....Friggin drove an hour to meet him and never showed up. Whatever. I carfaxed that car and it was bought at an auction and there is a four year blank spot in its history. BUT..... I just sealed the deal on that red 95 awd stick legacy wagon!!!!! 2500 bucks....102k miles, brand new clutch, brand new a/c condenser, newer waterpump, runs like a champ. freekin SCORE!!!!!!!
  5. hey guys! Thanks for all the help...This site is even better than NASIOC and CLUBWRX!!!! I would love to represent somehow when I get the beater....is there a club decal that i could put on the car to show my appreciation? As for the cars... Carfaxed them both....both are completely clean, and on their second owners. One of them was a wholesaled car bought buy a mechanic who made it his daily driver for a few months because he liked it so much..... The tips for the one with 100k are great.... Either one is a great car and I am just going to look at and test drive both and see what the best price I can get on each one is....Probably gonna be one of the two cars though. I LOVE driving stick and I actually thought I was gong to have to get an auto, which I was not so happy about, but then I found these 2 cars.
  6. F- the loyale....not for city driving....maybe if I was going i nthe opposite direction I would buy it....It needs to go to someone who wants to make it into a monster car. I am choosing between a 93 legacy LS wagon awd with 156k and an auto trans for 1600 bucks a 96 legacy wagon awd with 150k and a manual for 2500 (negotiable) and a 95 legacy wagon with 100k and a manual for 2800 (negotiable) How much should I try to negotiate the price on either of the 2 newer legacies? Also...I think i read that if the timing belt on an ej22 goes, the motor cannot get damaged...is this true???? because that is AWESOME
  7. I am not buying this car...I found a couple of AWD legacys that I would rather have....It would not do well going to the bronx every day. I am though going to recommend this if anyone is looking for a PRISTINE loyale in the tri state area Look at the pics - it's a great car... The guy's name is Mike and he lives near Waterbury CT...Only wants 1500 for the car...It's FWD with power EVERYTHING except a sunrooof....860-274-9452 is his number....He's a great guy and I would love to see the car go to someone who will take careof it since I cant buy iit. Just don't lowball him if you want it because he's an honest good guyand the car is good as well.
  8. Thanks man...I am talkin to my mechanic aboutthe Loyale in the AM...if he says don't do it, then Iam gonna look for a legacy for the time being...If the crx had 150k or under, you could consider it sold because it would be perfect....200 k is a bit much for a car that has to be driven daily on the Bronx River parkway.....if it were on i84 I would say sure, but Bronx river is a bit harsh for an old honda methinks.
  9. VERY high milage.....IDK I it is beautiful...think I might be better off with a loyale that has 80k LOL - how the hell did this thing not rust out??? amazing...I thought you were gonna tell me that it has like 98k miles LOL....How much do you want for it anyway>
  10. I am ALWAYS at the subaru meets...I am one of the most active members in Tri-state. Just havent been as much so lately because of the whole getting a job thing LOL. TELL ME ABOUT THE CRX!@#$%^ It looks AMAZING! Tell me everything...milage, price, if it needs anything...etc, etc....
  11. Her's the reason why I need a beater car to drive to the Bronx every day...
  12. Hey 75, I would love to buy your car but taking that thing to the Bronx every day would be sad....I'd be sad driving such a nice piece of history down there and kicking the crap out of it like that. Plus....I am looking for 1990 or newer on anything I buy and it HAS to be fuel injected. I am talking to my mechanic tomorrow about the Loyale. If he says to walk away from it I am walking...if he says to take it I am taking. I know that the oil leaking is more like oil seeping in the 1.8 motor. I love the 2.2 liter motor because it reminds me of a non-turbo version of my WRX, but they are hard to find for 2k or under. BTW here's a taste of the reason why I need a commuter car :-) She's got 60k on her, and is only an 04. She's also faster than an STi off the line:headbang:
  13. hmm that changes tings...maybe i will buy it over the legacy with 156kon it. Edmunds reviews are excellent on both cars so i dont know what to do LOL
  14. Nipper - the guy who bought it went by the calendar and had a complete tuneup done when he bought it back in feebruary..he's just unable to have 2 cars right now and thats why he is selling it....It has new axles, cv joints, all sorts of things that he probably did not even need to replace....He drives it every day and it's fine....it's the old lady who drove it before him that didnt drive it much...does that help?
  15. LOL thanks guys- I just need to know which would be more reliable....1.8 or 2.2...I dont care about power or anything likethat...strictly reliability on th highway
  16. Thanks bucky.....yeah all that I am concerned about is driving on the highway with it....if you say it's good and I am getting a good deal though...i think I should just stick with my original decision and buy the Loyale. It really sounds like even if this thing was beat on, which it was not at all, it would still run fine.....I odnt care if a couple of random things dont work like the clock,,,i just need the car itself to run and be reliable. PS - the dude that bought the car form this old lady put literally like 600-900 bucks worth of stuff into it just because he wanted to make sure it would run perfectly....kind of reasssuring.
  17. walden???? My fam is originally from Monitcello..... The cars are the same price lol 84k miles and change on the loyale and 156k on the legacy. Loyale is mint with some rust but not much, and the legacy as some rust as well. Legacy is an auto and has more options, Loyale is a manual with most of the same options except cruise control and no am/fm radio. That's cool about the parts car....might be worth grabbing some parts off of....I just am not really going for a cool factor here even though the loyale is much cooler, I have to keep my eye on the prize and get the more reliable vehicle. NICE WHITE SUBY BTW!!!!!!
  18. Oh man you guys sound like greeat people. Unfortunately we are going away saturday through Tuesday BUT if I buy it maybe we could meet up... I am now caught between a rock and a hard place with this caar.... Unfortunately there is another car in the picture now..... It's a 93 awd Legacy LS automatic with 156k...significantly more miles but sounds like it might be more reliable than a loyale...it's been extremely well maintained so I am sure it's got tond of time left.... If you were me and had to drive this car to the bronx everyday, what would you feel better driving down there??? Loyale or legacy?
  19. Many of you mayy have read my post about the 91 loyale sedan that I found in mint condition with 80k on it.... I also found a 93 Legacy LS awd Wagon with 156k on it, but it has been meticulously maintained.... Which should I buy as a daily driver??? Which is going to be more reliable and safer to drive on the highway???? I NEED HELP  Both cars are in the 1500 dollar range.
