I have a 2001 Impreza (not RS) that has a 5 speed transmission that has long since surpassed its service life. I have a 5 speed transmission from a 1990 Legacy wagon that I'd like to put into the car. I know this will enrage alot of you... turning an AWD into a FWD, but I just need transportation and can't afford $900 for a used AWD tranny. Will the 1990 transmission bolt in? If it won't what FWD transmissions will? The rear end is pretty messed up from a wreck though it would drive perfect as FWD.
