  1. Im changing a cv axle on the 83 brat turbo and i had a few questions. Where is the best place to purchase one? Will i be able to do this job with a Chiltons manual? Is there anything different about changing an axle on a turbo model than a gl?
  2. I have an 83 turbo brat and its having a power problem. It runs pretty good, however, it has no power between 1k rpm and 3k rpm. Once you get it past 3k and the turbo is in full force, the car runs normal. The problem is apparant when the car is cold or hot. The problem is worse on hills. The turbo appears to boost normally. It dosnt sputter when its not responding, just takes its sweet time getting to 3k rpm. The brat has the 3at. Was hoping you all could help me define my problem.
  3. Well, I diddnt get the legacy. He told me he would meet with me, then he sold it to someone else:mad: . Oh well. I really want one now though, if anyone has one in Western WA i would love to come see it. It must be a sedan, and a LSI or SUS with an auto tranny. Ill post in items wanted too sometime. Thanks for the advice on the car though everyone.
  4. This is basically a should i buy question. I have never owned a non EA Subaru, this would be my first EJ. I dont know much about them at all. This is a 95 legacy lsi sedan. Its a 2.2 automatic. The car has 120,000 miles on it, no damage, all receipts, and its only had one owner. They are asking 3,800 for it. If i could get it for 3,500, would i be getting a fair, good or great deal? It seems the lsi trim is fairly hard to come across. What should i look out for on EJ cars? Trouble spots? Thanks for the advice!
  5. Sounds good, I would be down if it was at a time i don't work. I was sad to see your friend sold the silver T-brat so soon. Did it not work out for him? I was hoping he was going to restore it. The center lamp found on the 1982 gls.
  6. 130,000 miles and it came with the original key!
  7. I will get some up soon. I think its a Suzuki motorcycle engine. The crazy bastard thought one would be fun in a brat. The brat was complete with motorcycle tac and sppedo, vinyl paint and a nice baja bed extender (i liked that mod). He hooked the motorcycle tranny right up to the drive axle and ran it rwd only. I wish i got some pics of it. Moreover, That guy collects third eyes. He had 6 of them. I asked him to throw one in with the deal, but he said no. He just likes how rare they are. He has no intention of ever using them, or selling them, just likes collecting them as if they were stamps.
  8. It was listed on CL with no mention of turbo nor did he post pics. I posted the pics because i think they are the best example of a nice turbo brat, All the T-brats on the T-brat page are kinda fugly (no offense to anyone:) ). Even my old silver T-brat had a messed up tailgate and peeling paint. These are glamor shots of the brat. She has a few imperfections. (engine bay looks great though). The guy i bought it from was a bit of an eccentric. He used the brat to drive to Idaho where he owned a gold mine. He also had another brat with a R1000 engine, 6 speed tranny, 19" rims, and he ended up using that car exclusively for making dump runs. nice guy though.
  9. My gal and i are the proud new owners of an 83.5 Turbo Brat. Thought i would post some pics.
  10. hmmm.... I did a bit more research and i found some numbers. Can anyone back these up? http://www.cardomain.com/ride/251288 He claims 92,445 Brats were sold in America. Also, less reliably, this guy claims only 300-400 Turbo Brats were made. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2349271 I'm really curious how many 1983.5 Turbo Brats were made.
  11. Im just curious if anyone knows or has a link to how many brats were put into production on a year by year and model basis.(i tried searching, but no luck) If not. Dose anyone know how many brats were made total? Total gen 1's? Total gen 2's"? Total Turbo Brats made? How many Turbo coupe's were made? How many Turbo wagons? Long live the ea81T!
  12. I was thinking about looking at an ea71 that has been sitting in a garage for 7 years. I was under the impression that it is hard on the car to have it sit in the same spot for a long time. What should i keep in mind when looking at this car? What should be done if i buy it?
  13. Thank you for your encouragement. Im thinking baby steps, or at least no leaps yet. This is for a RX rally beater. Im thinking ill swap in another ea82T, learn from that experience (my first swap:) ). Then after mercilessly beating that engine into submission, ill do an ej22T:grin: I think i found a ea82T and im excited to begin my first swap in the next couple weeks. Wish me luck!
  14. Its hard to set foot into a wall mart with out feeling guilty. Besides, my beloved soobs deserve better than penzoil. I go Castrol GTX.
