Hi Kev, I found my 2003 Yellow Subaru Baja online for a great price. Unfortunately, I'm was in New Jersey and the car was in Kansas. Talked to the dealer who was selling and within a week I was on a plane (for business fortunaltely) to Tulsa, OK (three hours away from the car!). He had the car driven down to me for free (by an retired cop and his wife). I picked up the car at the airport while dropping off my business rental, signed some paperwork, and drove my incredibly new-like Baja home (over 1,300 miles). Drove beautifully. Took a chance, but the pictures, the low mileage (18,000 miles... for 2003???? not a scratch on it!) and the frankness/honesty of the dealer (it's a cream-puff, trust me), made me decide to buy the car. And it was well worth the trip. I got a fairly new car, a great idea for retirement (delivering cars across the country as the retired cop and his wife now do---FOR A LIVING!!!), and great experience on how to buy expensive items on the Internet, carefully and slowly. My only beef is just like you mentioned---it doesn't have heated seats (they're leather but may add the heat to them myself) and the LOCAL gas mileage (19 to 21); highway it pulls about 28mpg. It's an automatic so, locally you must know when to let up on the gas pedal---don't take it over 3,000rpms while driving local and you'll do fine---(let it shift gears itself by letting up on the gas pedal just under 3,000rpm). However, I'm sure a 5-speed will do much better locally. Good luck!
