  1. Took it in this morning, the service manager said the mp3 version radio from the 06 outback will not fit the 05. So looks like I am stuck with it. Also if you live in SF be aware that Ron Price Subaru is a major hassel. They charged me for and oil change and tire rotation. $80! They did not even rotate the tires. I know cause being a former mechanic I know how people can cheat. I marked the tires too
  2. Thanks for that Ron- I have autoclimate control. Its a nasty little trap I am in. I am now wedded to my subaru dealer.
  3. Yeah, I know Big but here- As of yet there is no face plate for the integrated climate and audio system. The one they do make is for the regular outback not the limited. If you do know of something for the limited I would appreciate knowing more. Thank goodness for the extended warantee. Already its saved me money on wheel bearings. Do you have an xt?>
  4. Hi all, I make a habit of posting any issues with my 05 outback here. Its going into the Subaru dealer today for a new radio. The CD player stopped reading disks. Why Sube went with this integrated dash beats the heck out of me. The stock deck is nothing great. You cannot change it if you wanted too. The deck lasted about 2 years, or 45k miles. I plan on asking for an upgraded model with an MP3.
  5. Could be a cool deal man. Subaru is offering 0.0% financing. The 06 has the Dvd navi. 05 does not. I was thinking about it. Whatever happened to the retail value of subaru?
  6. I looked up the prices for the wheel bearings and axlenut (didnt know you had to change that everytime). The warrantee saved me big on parts and labor. I read in the long term test results that the Legacy GT they tested had the SAME issue, and more. Power windows and one of the drivers pumped in DIESEL. Well, I have owned a few Subes and none of the ever liked diesel. 1) Part Number: 902170044 Axle nut Back 2003 - 2004 $3.28 2) Part Number: 28473ag00a HUB and BEARING ASSY, Legacy 2005 $123.77
  7. Turns out the "road noise" was the rear wheel bearings. Covered under the extended warrantee. Check here for part#s.
  8. Howdy all, Been a while since I checked in. Nice to see everyone is still around! Any Idea why my 05 outback wagon is making a whoop-whooping sound on the freeway. Got about 36k on it. Replaced the tires had a wheel alignment and the problem persists. Around 40mph it starts. Quite noticable. Definitely related to something in the driveline. Cannot feel a thing through the steering wheel so I suspect it is a ball-joint or a wheel bearing. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Any input is appreciated. This car has been rock solid so far. Thanks,
  9. http://www.acura.com/index.aspx?initPath=Home Check this out. Its called the RDX? The engine HP and Tq # match subaru outback to a tee. They even claim to have developed a revolutionary feature that matched engine exhaust gas flow to turbo speed. I think its been called a wastegate. Why would someone pay that kind of bread for a awd overweight acura, when they can have the real deal, not some pretender. I have had contests of speed with a few MDXs (put them in the rear view real quick). Maybe they are trying to save some face. Bill
  10. I fully agree that a larger turbo will reduce drivability. How do I increase boost without all the cost? Which shop do you recommend?
  11. Hi Nipper, The car is an 2005 outback XT Limited, 2.5liter motor and 5m. Thanks, Bill
  12. Hi out there in Subeland, I hear the GReddy makes a larger Mitsu-turbo that has the potentail to increase engine output to 290hp and about 290 ft/lbs torque. The kits are about $4000. They say the car remains as streetable as ever. I seriously would crave more HP. The car is fast as is but needs more grunt to haul my windsurfing gear.
  13. Hi all, My 91 Justy 4wd with 30,000 miles has a transmission problem. It starts and runs. However once the motor warms the transmission drops out of all gears. The car will not go. How much is a new transmisson? Thanks all
  14. Hey Brus, You can Fax the Schmatic to me at 650-225-6950 or email me the scanned image at whilow@gene.com Thanks man,
