  1. thanks a ton! I'm looking for some way to repop something....
  2. Thanks! I am talking about the flat discs above and below the ends of the mustache bar.
  3. Can anybody point me to a reliable source for 1979 BRAT mustache bar bushings? Thank you!
  4. I have considered it. The tires on it now, I put on it, in 2005. Being they're over 10 years old now, no tire shop will touch them. I have the steel rims that were on it when I bought it, but I like the look of the Jackman's better. I had both sets sandblasted and powder coated, so they both look like new.
  5. I agree, it does! I still like mine better than the $46K brown one!
  6. As Moosens said..... I'll let it be. I have a serious problem believing the ODO though. My BRAT is in similar shape, WITH the decals (spent it's life in the garage of a 60-90 year old before I purchased it in 2005). Mine has original carpet in back, jump seat belts are just as nice, headrests are WAY nicer, mine has original plaid seats (which that one should, being a GL) mine has original mini york AC compressor, without hose clamps etc. Ok, I guess I'm not letting it be......... I am ecstatic about the price though!!
  7. I looked up the part number for a 4 blade radiator fan, found one online, and now have it at my house. Not to say that you could do that with every part, but it is VERY valuable for taking things apart, and putting back together. There is an exploded view of every single piece on the thing. I have a Subaru 360 pickup in the middle of a frame off restoration right now, and I have a parts manual for that as well, and use it ALL THE TIME.
  8. I have the 1979 parts manual already scanned on my computer.
  9. I have a factory parts manual in PDF form. If you send me your email in a PM, I can try to email it to you. For what it's worth, you can still find parts if you really scour. I just bought a factory original, NOS 4 blade fan for my 79 BRAT. It came out of the UK, but the parts are out there.
  10. Thanks! It's far from perfect, but it is all original paint! It does need just a few little things, but it's a time capsule. The thing spent it's entire life in a garage in NH until I bought it 12 years ago. The previous owner kept every service record (including date and mileage) on the back of bank deposit slips.
  11. My brother took the BRAT to a car show yesterday, it was a hit, to say the least! http://forestersg6.lansingautoenthusiast.com/2017/10/car-spotlight-1979-subaru-brat.html?m=1
  12. If the shifter knob is wood, with enameled numbers, I am interested. Please let me know. What condition are the front fenders in? I would possibly be interested in those as well. Also, hood prop rod, and clip that holds hood prop rod. I can't think of anything else. Thanks, Jon
  13. The way the filter elements were installed, you are only pulling air through the bottom one aren't you?
  14. Need to get them off the dirt, before they turn to dust. I bought a van for parts years ago and not much was good from sitting on the ground (covered in a tarp, holding in the moisture)!
  15. I've got a 69 360 pickup and it gets about 35-40 realistically. I do treat the gas pedal as an "on /'off" switch though!
  16. If you think these are not high speed vehicles, you should drive a Subaru 360 pick up sometime! I drive mine on the highway at 70 regularly....... (the BRAT that is) the 360 won't even go 70!
  17. Just curious if anybody knows the best place to get matching paint for my BRAT. Mine is white, but I don't know the color code. I am having the tailgate repainted (previous owner backed into fire hydrant). I totally stripped all emblems, trim etc off the tailgate, now I just want the paint to match. Before this board went to this format, (years ago) there was a BRAT from every model year, in almost every color. It seems like the color was called Plaza White? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. I live in Michigan, and I let my daughter ride in the back, as long as I'm not getting on the highway. Around town, I don't think it's a problem (and legal with seat belts) but I don't think it's safe (or even smart for that matter) to be going 70-75 with an 8 year old in the back. Just my 2 cents!
  19. OCD, I have this same manual (or one very close) that is fully scanned, (that took a minute) and it's indexed. If you are looking for something and enter it in a search, the pdf viewer will bring up all pages relating.....want a copy? PM me your email and I'll see if I can send it. Otherwise, I'll send you a link to it, so you can just download it.
  20. anybody have a set of Jackman center caps? I took the 4 steel rims off my brat and had the tires mounted on the Jackmans that I just had powder coated, then found out the caps don't work. I'm bummed. I have all 4 steel rims, and the center caps if anybody is interested. I don't know if there is a difference, but the spokes on my Jackmans are not dead flat.
  21. I bought a BRAND NEW mini york compressor for $20 on a wholesale parts website about 3 or 4 years ago. Unfortunately, it's still in the box it came in, sitting on the shelf in my garage. My brat has been in the storage since summer of 08 and hasn't even seen the light of day! :-(
  22. I have a 360 pickup and put it in the back of my Chevy Z71 short box. The back tires were sitting at the back of the tailgate. I drove from Philadelphia PA to Muskegon MI like that (probably not too safe). I also have a 79 BRAT, and I can tell you, there is NO CHANCE that any 360 will fit in the back of that, unless you are talking about a model of a 360! In all honesty, the BRAT isn't really THAT much bigger than the 360 pickup. I know I have a picture of the 360 sitting in front of the BRAT somewhere, when I find it, I'll post.
  23. I was going to say the same thing about the vehicle being removed from the hauler, but Moosens beat me to it. How about this......was it sitting flat, once loaded on the hauler? Did another vehicle get moved off, and then the BRAT got reload, NOT flat, they went to start it and there wasn't much oil pumping (due to not being flat)? Obviously I don't know the answers, just grasping at straws also. I don't think the seller is BS-ing about it running. How long did he own it? When was the last time he drove it? Was there a witness to it running prior to being sold? Lots of questions.......at least it looks nice. And the motors are really a dime a dozen.
  24. I had a roll bar shipped from CA to Mobile AL by Greyhound. It was DIRT CHEAP! The jump seats weight is FAR less than the roll bar. Also, the roll bar wasn't wrapped, or packed or anything, all it had was a "ship to" tag. You guys should check into that.
