  1. Take the cig lighter and put it in the junk drawer beside the knives and forks, it will probaly stay there for years bringing back memories of a beautiful car.
  2. Land Rovers are junk, over priced english plastic. They will take you to the store but with lots of repairs. My buddy bought a new one last year he put on 11,000 kms and he had to replace the brakes and roters, a mere 1500 bucks. He asked the guy at the shop if 11,000 is to low, he told him some get less some get more. Last winter cat skiing I spent a hour outside trying to get a guys land rover going, he had spnet at least 5 hours working on it before I came along, he hauled it back to Edmonton on a trailer. They are not hard core, they are junk
  3. Last winter I was headed in Revelstoke to do a week of cat skiing, I stopped 1 week before I left at Mr. Lube and had the change the oil. I then drove home parked the truck till I was ready to leave. Hopped in the truck and began the 9 hour drive into the Selkirk Mountains. I was about Cockrane Alberta when I heard a funny noise and as soon as I got on Highway 1 (goes all the way across canada and is four lanes most of the way our best road). I pull over and the wind is howling off of the rockies, I pop the hood and see nothing out of the ordinary so I continue my drive and slove the problem by turning up the radio. I stopped in Canmore for Coffee, and the truck was facing the other way as soon as I opened the door I could smell gear oil and looked underneath and could tell it was the rear end. Now I have to be in Revelstoke by 7:30 am as that is when the cat leaves. I stop at a dealership drop the truck off and beg a ride to the highway, I get to revelstoke at midnight catch a little sleep and catch the cat. Ski 7 days in a row of virgin powder. I get a call from the dealership and they tell me the problem "NO FILL PLUG " Mr Lube did repalce the rear end but it was a used one, I still use them but I get out of the car and watch them do it. It warmed up today and is only minus 20, time to break out the shorts.
  4. My brake pedel in my 97 outback seems to be frozen, it is cold out right now, its minus 21 with a wind chill of minus 31. Today is the first time and it happened twice. It seems to be frozen for about 20 seconds and then the power assit kicks in. I will try letting the car idel for a few minutes to see if that will help as I am just starting and driving right away. At least the heated seat work fine. Maybe I should move south?
  5. It's been winter here for awhile; the pic on my User Name was what I awoke too 3 weeks ago. This is my first outback, I have had 7 older subs, 3 81 4x4 wagons, 1 84 2 wdr coupe and a 86 2wdr wagon. I finally bought this one, the heated seat are devine and I use them all the time. Its gutless, get bad gas milelage but can drive through snow better than the full size 4x4 trucks. After being away from the Subaru family for 10 years I a happy to be back.
  6. My Subaru's wheel wells seem to be filling up with snow, is this normal. I can actally feel the car bottoming out on the snow.
  7. Today if I raced a Civic or Tony Steward in his race car I would win there is about 5 inches of snow on the road, It's called AWD and thats why I drive a Subaru. I can load it with lots of S@$t and if I vacume it I can take out a women in it, that is if any would go out with me.
  8. I have now owned Ru for 1 week and you know it gets much better gas milelage than my F-150. I have loaded it 4 times with 3 by 10s for the fireplace and it carries a pretty good load. The heated seats are too die for too. It is my 7th subaru I have 3 81 GLwagons, 1 2 door 82 2wd, 83 wagon 4wd and about a 84 2wd wagon and then I went to trucks. I finally got tried of spending hugh dollars on gas and bought this 97. I filled her up this morning and it was only 34 bucks. It's a good looking car.
  9. I too have been thinking of adding one to they Ru but this statement makes sense and I won't be doing it now thanks. If those filters made a hp increase, don't you think the auto manufacturers would put them on the cars to begin with? Now you're probably thinking, well that would cost too much, right? Maybe not. They wouldn't have to make the airboxes anymore! That would at least even it out with the benefit of a couple more hp! I think they would jump on that.
  10. ohhh whats that icon called SEARCH, I found the info thanks
  11. I have a 1997 Outback with a roof rack that has sides, I need to attach my theule Box and was wondering if Surbaru has lateral bars for this rack, and if they do would they take the load of the box, the thing to remeber is I plan on loading firewood ontp this box as well as the odd Body.
  12. I bought a 97 Outback tonight, in pretty good shape. Below is the link to my new Ru, paid 8750.00 CDN and its a good deal for up here. http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=23834095
