  1. Being Subaru and all, you'd think most any other parts would work for it (?) but i guess the motor size makes the difference.
  2. EVERYONE seems to do options 3... I just replaced my switch with a used one.
  3. Dudde, black bumpers, black handles, black mirrors with the tint! but why hte "RX" and "STi" decals? you have mods related to those cars?
  4. Nothin should be a stupid question around here. If you don't know, and don't ask... how will you ever learn? Keep up the questions dude!
  5. the dieseling could be carbon build up, in the combustion chamber. possibly other areas too. I just got my new engine running with my brand new weber on
  6. heh, just buying another tranny would save a ton of work. infact... I have a single range 4sp sittin around. buuut, I heard these cars are lifted, so maybe not? oh, and junior is scared to learn a manual tranny?
  7. Yeah, think about it. 55K... timeing belts, first thing, eh?
  8. Worn hubs, or worn out steering racks will accelerate bearing wear. something to think about.
  9. Yeah, that'd be sick. we'll try to set someting up.
  10. Not to be a douche, but that sounds pretty pointless to swap transmissions. why not buy another manual?! that might work out better for ya. It would be a whole lot less work.
  11. I have fine luck with my Accel. I think you have to make sure you get the ones made state-side, not in mexico, or wherever. but i've MSD is good shtuff; go witht that!
  12. Unless your girlfriend acts like you are married!
  13. After doing headgaskets, they often have to be retourqed after, about 500mi. of driving. Unless they otherwise specify with the gasket. Felpro permatourq gaskets I think are the best, and strongest way to go. If you do not retourqe, non-permatourqe gaskets, they will blow again. especially on an ea82. just a thought
  14. uugghhmm-- I'd have to disagree with all these fine folks;) . I would for sure go with the EA81 (1.8L) Brat for the Dakar. It has just been my experences that they are the most reliable over EA82(for sure) and probably most EJ serie motors. the motors are gear-driven, which makes them practically bullet proof. the Brat is very light weight. It'd be easy to put in a roll bar, and whatnot. the 4 speed, dual-range transmission has nice low gearing, and will easily push high RPMs. and I KNOW the Brat goes GREAT in the sand -- STOCK. But it all sounds like really great advice!
  15. I'm sorry to hear about that. Just forgive and move on; don't let that mean old woman get ya down! Fck 'em if they can't take a joke...cuse ya know what...Soobs Rock Teh Noobs!!!
  16. Stock pipes/headers are 1.75". I don't know about the cat. converter. But I think if you go bigger than a 2" pipe diameter, you start to loose your low-end.
  17. Theres nothing like a woman who likes the soob wheeling!
  18. *edit* it was me that posted under [HTi]Savage profile(I was on his computer, kind of spaced it).
  19. ...bit of advice:grin: ...NEVER bring your significant other wiht you off-roading. UNLESS, they love it as much as you, or support it/love YOU enough to do it.
  20. sometimes I'll pick up a stick/debree, and it'll make your typical rubing noise. but whatev! I'm with ya on this one... she just needed a little action;) gotta git 'er wet, every now and then, ya know
  21. It's tufff to say, with such a short lift. If you are looking to put bigger tires under it, I've heard 3inches of lift (for EA81) is perfect to fit 27" tires. You might need to lengthen the steering column. but shifters? I wouldn't think so. heh, do it, and you'll know!
  22. Funny thing is, when he starts off-roading it the body is going to go crinkle! It is unavoidable. Personally, I hate to see cars like that in such nice shape, lifted. They loose their value, and i'm sure it will get dinged up eventually. Looks lilke Nice work though (on the outside) Like the jump-seat setup for sure.
