MAF sensor cleaning...who'd a thunk!
cobcob replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah, they had that for $4.99 or the proper MAF cleaner for $7.99... the MAF cleaner can weighed less and cost more so I got the cheaper stuff... had a brain fart earlier! -
Someone rocked my Hatch.. can anyone help??

Dunno about all that... I do know that my Dad hauled a Peavey guitar amp across the pond to me a while back... Whenever family comes to visit they're either bringing me stuff or taking stuff back to OZ so it won't be too big of a deal... biggest downside is that he's not coming till sept. so it's not really a quick solution -

SuBaRiNo, If the cost of shipping from the US is prohibitive then let me know... If there's any way that you can limp by for a month or so my Dad is coming across to the US from Melbourne and has platinum frequent flyer status so he can haul anything he wants back with him for free... bound to be cheaper to post it from Melbourne to Perth than from the US... -

There was a huge police investigation in Melbourne back in the '90s cos kids were standing on the pedestrian overpasses and throwing rocks at cars as they passed underneath.. I seem to recall at least 1 major accident due to a brick going through the windshield while they were going about 100 kph... -

It's a long shot but do you have any pick-a-parts around you? They were all over the place when I lived in Melbourne, not sure if they've made it that far West though... I'll do some looking around here and see if I can't turn something up for ya... Need an excuse to hit the JY's anyway!! Just found this online... Not wanting to start a new thread when one already exists, Got a situation with an '88 GL-10T that's in 'limp mode' I'm going to get the vehicle tomorrow and would very much like to drive it home under its own steam so I don't have to make 2 trips of 60+ miles to get the GL-10 and a parts car from the same location. The seller said he thinks the limp mode is due to a problem with the MAF... anyone care to suggest other things? and would a shot of MAF cleaner fix it ya think? (i'm going on limited info from the seller here too) -

Apparantly a 1999 Mazda Millenia will JUST trade straight across on an '82 Brat with 190,500 miles... -

BAD MAN!! She's certainly not a Soob hater by any stretch... she quite likes driving his '07 Imp wagon while he has to drive a POS domestic SUV to work... -

Not to speak for OC, but he's in tech school this whole week... Anywhoo, It's got 449,336 miles to be exact... but then his hag wife cooked the head gasket out of it though -
EA 82 engine temperature variation

I think it's seriously broken beyond all repair... better send it to me and I'll take it off your hands... Seriously though, that is really weird... on a car I used to have it would overheat occasionally but only when it was really cold... that problem was traced back to a faulty radiator cap that wasn't sealing properly due to the low ambient temps (20deg or so) that was non-soob though so I don't know if that could be a factor with yours -

If you're up for a road trip? I know of a guy in NY who will make sure that it gets fixed and he'll get great pleasure out of forcing that cost on the dealership! -

According to my Subaru tech buddy, there legally can't be an expiration on the recalls... definately worth a try! -

He's sure not offering any limited warranty at all, I'm not certain what the lemon laws are here in MO on a private sale... either way I don't want that loser to get his $500 commision... I am getting the dealer to get a cash price out of the owner, I figure I'll take that number, knock a coupla hundred off it and propose that to the owner directly... that way the owner will get a bit more $$ and the 'dealer' won't get $500...
-
he's selling it on consignment... I happened to find out that there's no contract for the consignment though (he offered to consign my car for me) I've got the VIN number so I had a buddy run that and get me the name of the owner, so once my car sells I'm going straight to the owner... Not gonna deal with that 'sleazeball' as you so aptly put it!

It's not too hilly round here, depending on which way I drive to and from work. Main highway there's about 3 hills, secondary highway there's a lot...

Wellll.... Just got back from the car lot... turns out the moron who's selling it forgot to put a '1' in the mileage on the online advert so it's got 190,500 not 90500... I wound up keeping the Millenia and I'm trying to sell that so I can pay cash on the Brat rather than get raped by a used car salesman. He also stated that it was a 5 speed but it's a 4... jackass
