  1. I have a 2002 OBW and I don't have the owners manual. The car has green antifreeze and I am told it should have orange. Is this correct? What should I do?
  2. I have owned three subaru's: 2004 WRX, 2002 OBW, 2000 OBW. I towed the 2000 from Virginia to Idaho with a tow dolley. It was a manual transmission too. I drove the car 67,000 more miles and then had problems with the tranny. I don't know if it was related to towing the car or not.
  3. Hey...my 2000 OBW is also on its third transmission! At 110K, 150K, and so I hope I don't have to put in another!
  4. I have had the same problem with my 2000 OBW. I have replaced the CAT three times now. I paid around $300 for the first replacement and the other two have been under warranty. Despite fixing what the computers say the problem is, I still continue to have the Check Engine Light warning. Let me know what you do because I am very interested.
  5. I am traveling from California to Utah and would like the extra room by renting a U-haul trailer. I have seen many other wagons with hitches, and I was wondering if I would be able to install one on mine? Are there some OBW's that aren't capable of installing a hitch? Thanks for the help.
  6. I have heard that Red Line is a good additive to the oil. Has anyone heard anything?
  7. I have a 2000 outback wagon that had transmission problems around 130,000 miles. I replaced the old tranny with a used tranny with 11,000 miles on it. About 25,000 miles later I have another problem. Has anyone else had similar problems? The problem I have is that the rear case of the transmission is grinding something inside it. I have taken it to a couple of transmission specialists but they are unable to give an estimate to rebuild it until they remove it and look at it. I am currently thinking about just having someone rebuild it, but it may be cheaper to get another one used. Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks, kyle

  9. I live in Utah right now, but I am from Idaho, and I bought the car in Oregon. To license the car for two years I just sent in a check for $963. That included tax, registration, plates, and two year tags. The insurance is $94 more than my 2000 OBW for six months. So I guess 94 bucks is worth it. The WRX only gets around 22-25 mpg's though. I think it is pretty funny all the crap I get for getting an automatic, and I suppose I always will.
  10. I bought the car on ebay and yes it does have a salvage title. The car was rear-ended. Here is the link. (i paid $300 more to get some things done to the car like fog lights etc.) email me and I will send the link if you want to see it.
  11. thanks alot...I look forward to reading through those forum posts. I have received more "you are loser for buying an automatic" posts and private messages that I would have thought of. thanks again.
  12. I didn't know what a starter looked like until someone posted a link with pics! I do think that I am going to give it a shot though. I have school until Wednesday next week and then I will have a little free time. It was mentioned that for someone who know what they are doing it would take 30 minutes to remove the starter. Is this correct? If you have any pointers I would appreciate it.
  13. Thanks...I finally received a post that was not sarcastic or ridiculing! I am certainly interested in the strut bars and wonder how long it takes to install them. About the automatic...I have owned 5 cars in my short life and 4 have been manual and this is my first auto. In fact, I prefer a manual, but when the price is right (13,400) for an 04 wrx with less than 3000 miles on it I will take it! Anyways, I heard that for around $1100 I can get an exaust kit that will get rid of the turbo lag and make it as fast or faster than a manual. I will still miss the manual, but honestly I have enjoyed my drive in the automatic.
