  1. Thanks alot for that. I guess it will save me some trouble in looking. Now I must look into what size everything is and start ordering parts based off of compatable sizes. I'm definatley going to find a company to build me a set of custom cams. The bad thing is I've already got almost $7000 invested in this car. oh well. another $8000 or so would be understandable. When i cleaned my MAF I used a eletronic component cleaner. No brake cleaner, no carb cleaner, nothing else. I posted before i cleaned it and everybody said to stay away from those. Luckily i still have yet another MAF sitting on the sidelines. I will go throw that one on today.
  2. Where to start... I'm sure that i'm not the only one who notices how ridiculously high gas prices are. Here lies my biggest problem. As many of you know, due to the fact it was because of you guys that i got my xt6 back up and running, the problems i faced with my car. As it stands right now I'm gonna have to retire my xt6 and go back to driving my POS mustang. I'm only getting about 5mpg. No joke. Just for me to drive to work and back home I'm burning up about a 1/8 of a tank. Here's just a list of everything that has been replaced since October last year when i did a clutch swap. Since the swap, only about 350 mi has been put on the car and new parts. -OEM PCV valve -MAF sensor +cleaning -IAC valve 2x. (Thanks Gary) +cleaning -O2 sensor -Spark Plugs -Cap and Rotor -Serpentine belt -OEM Hydraulic lash adjusters -Fuel injectors -Fuel Filter -Castrol Synthetic Oil 10w-30 w/ Fram oil filter -Exedy High racing clutch -Wire Harness connector for alternator I cant seem to understand why I'm getting crappy gas mileage. If anybody has any ideas or has suffered this problem your help would be greatly appreciated. It wont stay in retirement forever though. I want to completley reman the engine from the block up. This is where i could use some more help. I want to build my xt6 to withstand running at speeds of 110 mph for 100+ mile duration. I know that this will put a lot of stress on the motor for running it this high for this long. Hence the reason why I'm going to rebuild it. Does anybody know of any internal high performance parts i.e. pistons, rings, crank, cams, ect. Feel free to speak your mind on the matter. I'd like to hear some imput on it.
  3. How would it be possible to add seafoam to a fuel injected car such as my xt6. I think i will go out and buy some of the stuff today to add to my gas tank, but i was just curious as to how i should go about adding it to the intake....
  4. Yep. Heat riser tube is attatched. When i pulled codes i had just the black plugs connected. Didn't get any codes. I had previously cleared all the ones which had been resolved. Thats why it stumped me. I always thought if the CEL came on it would throw a code... Maybe it's just working out the kinks from only running on 3 cyl for the last month and a half... lol. I'll be sure to note if it happens again at all...
  5. So should i take it back out on the freeway again to see if it happens again??
  6. So i decided to take "wolf" out to stretch his legs. Out on the freeway i opened up full throttle. It did great for about the first 5 min. Then the check engine light came on. He then stalled till i hit about 65. Miraculously the check engine light clicked off and driving went back to normal for the rest of the drive. I tried to pull the codes and nothing came up. If the check engine light comes on i thought there was supposed to be a code...
  7. I sure have. They too have been a big help for me. Even if i needed advice or parts. I don't know if i posted this great news over there yet.
  8. Dude... I was wondering where i parked my car. Awesome score on your 6. Thats one sweet ride.
  9. Update: I thought I had fixed the timing with it being 1 -2 teeth off. I was wrong. I have been sick for a while now so i havent been feeling up to working on the car. Today was nice and warm so I decided to go ahead and reinvestigate the problem. After I thought I had fixed the timing issue all together, it still ran like crap. I pulled the front end apart and studied the timing marks on the cams. Both were pointing up. Seeing as this didn't look right I Logged on and started to search. I came across a thread on timing and read through it several times. When it finally occured to me that the cams should be 180* off of each other and not both pointing straight up. Thats right. Both cams were aligned so the timing marks on both were strait at the top. I redid the entire timing belt replacement procedure and did it exactly the way it was posted in the thread. Success!!!!! It has enough power to smoke the tires once again. Being able to fly through the gears instead of just driving like a granny. I owe everything to you guys who have done so much to help me out with this. But dont think this will be the end of me. I still have much to do and so much time to do it in.
  10. So i have been doing some cleaning on my xt6. I've also been sick for about a week and a half now. I decided to intsall a 36" bar light and have it wired up to take the place of the trunk light. So when the trunk is popped it turns on/closed it turns off. Does anybody think this is a good idea? I'm also working on getting complete underbody and front bumper neons.
  11. As a refresher to everyone. I have an 86 mustang 2.3L single barrel carb. I recently redid the timing on it. Thanks to all your guys help on that. Now i'm faced with a new problem. Does anybody know what the timing should be set at? How do you Fine Tune it. It is running rough around the edges. IF you guys can help me with it I'd be grateful.
  12. AWESOME NEWS!!!! I'll be in xt heaven... So i talked to my dad and convinced him to take me to reno, nv. Theres a couple different wrecking yards, but 1 in particular is worth going to. Unless they have changed it up at all there should be 5 xt's and xt6's. I'm hoping i can get everything i need in one run. Does anybody need anything. Tools will be limited but i'll try hard. Plus we'll have a pickup so it'll hold lots of goodies.
  13. It's times like these that i wish i had a cherry pick and motor stand... I think i'll invest in an engine stand and rent a cherry picker for the day. This motor will never see it coming. I need to replace gaskets on it anyways and clean it up a bit. Get rid of all the excess oil and grease. Have the Intake powder coated. You suppose the Valve cover and Rocker assembly housing can be powder coated too??
