  1. I agree the price is a little high, but the 5 speeds seem a little hard to find over here. I'm still looking, thanks for all the info.
  2. The yard wanted $350 w/ 130,000 miles on it. Not sure if it was cable or hydro clutch. I may take a look at it sometime soon. Thanks for the info guys.
  3. OK, thanks, I'll take a close look at the transmission and check what you mentioned. Thanks, Mark
  4. I need to replace the 5 speed MT in my 2.2 96 Legacy Brighton. A local yard has a 5 speed MT from a 1998 Legacy non outback, but he says his application only shows a 96 MT will fit my car and he will not warrant the 98 MT. By looking at the tranny chart, the gear ratio is the same (3.90) between the two and I believe I'm OK with the purchase based on searching this topic. But can anyone with more experience than me, back me up on this? Thanks, Mark
  5. Thanks for all of the advice, I will have new windshield installed. But.....I need to do something about the rust. I had a new windshield replaced a few years ago and was unaware of the extent of the rust under the glass. The installer brushed some paint primer? and said I was good to go ....not quite. So now I want to get in there and permanently remove the rust before the new glass is installed. Thanks again for the advice, Mark
  6. Thanks Gary...I got in a hurry and forgot to search. I just need to remove it to repair the rust first. I'll check around about install prices. Mark
  7. Hello, has anyone replaced their own windshield?. 96 legacy wagon, with rust under the windshield rubber molding. I can get a used windshield for @ $65.00. I was thinking about pulling my old one (it's cracked) fixing the rust and installing this used one. Any tips? Thanks, Mark
  8. thanks, for the info. Since my 96 5sp is a daily driver with 235,000, I thought if I rebuild a different engine for a switcheroo I would only be down a short time. Maybe I need to re-think this.
  9. I have a ej22 engine out of a 95 legacy auto with EGR. I would like to rebuild this motor to switch out my 96 ej22 5 speed non EGR. I have been following some of the EGR/nonEGR topics but I'm still confused. Would I be able to convert the 95 EGR to non-EGR by using the intake from the 96 non EGR and plugging the heads on the 95? Your advise is greatly appreciated.
  10. I also have a 96 legacy wagon. I picked up some outback struts from the junk yard for a future install, but did not get any lift blocks. Are they necessary to level out the car? Where are the blocks located on the rear outbacks. Thanks,
