  1. update, I installed crossmember blocks from a 97 outback(they were just shy of 1and1/4 inch thick) and used the steering coupler from a 95 legacy(perfect fit). the car is back to normal. thanks for the replies!
  2. was wondering if anyone else has had issues after installing a lift, I've noticed a vibration/shudder on acceleration that seems to smooth out when I ease off on the throttle. I did blocks with the 15 degree angle but did not drop the crossmember up front, i'm wondering if thats my next move. thanks (94loyale by the way)
  3. does anyone know what width and backspace these wheels are? thanks!
  4. I just read this post and it looks like a cool, low buck idea! on the blocks with the 15 degree offset are you moving the top of the strut towards the outside of the fender or towards the engine to keep the camber in check? please pardon my newbiness, I'm just trying to picture it in my head. Thanks!
  5. thanks GD, I did verify proper voltage in the car but I will definetely experiment with the air adjustment. I appreciate the reply!! steve
  6. still fighting this one, I went through all the hoses and sprayed wd40 around the intake, couldn't find any vacuum leaks. When the idle is surging if i disconnect the rubber hose from the iac the idle smooths out, also stays smooth if I cover the iac hose inlet(can feel vacuum on my thumb) the second I reconnect the hose the surging starts and continues. anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? thanks!
  7. the pcv valve is new and I have checked the temp sensor, seems to be ok. I am going to do a thorough check for vacuum leaks this weekend. thanks!
  8. i've read several past posts using search but I still am wondering about the sequence of operation of the IAC. I have idle surging 1000 to 1200 after the car warms up (94 loyale spfi) I have checked my IAC using the fsm and it checks ok, I have cleaned it and also tried a junkyard control with the same outcome. my question is, after the first minute does the valve stay open all the time? when the idle is surging I can cover the inlet to the IAC with my thumb and the idle smooths out and is normal. I am getting a code for IAC and O2 sensor (O2 sensor has less than 2000 miles on it) I don't mind buying a new one I just want to make sure that i'm not missing anything . Thanks for helping !!!
  9. thanks for the replies! just for clarification this is a loyale 4wd with a 3at. I've discovered trans fluid in the front differential and I assume its a failed seal that i've read about on the forum elsewhere. seems like the manual swap is definetely the way to go versus repair of the automatic. thanks.
  10. I've been through search a few times and found lists of needed parts, but i was wondering if there is a step by step on this anywhere? ( ea82 auto to ea82 five speed) thanks!
  11. frank B, I have an ignition switch ordered, sixty dollars from the dealer. I'll probably do a pushbutton tucked away somewhere out of sight just for the "this might happen again someday" luck that I seem to have.....
  12. true2blue, no I haven't got to it yet, I'm just happy to hear its not anything I can't repair myself. Instead of relays or pushbuttons are replacement ignition switches available? I would have a hard time trusting a junkyard replacement even if I could find one..
