  1. Well it ended up needing a new wheel bearing, as well as my old hub was too old and worn. The splines inside it had decayed so much that there was signifigant play in the CV's connection to the hub. We thinks that was what had caused the thunking... All the abuse the wheel gave to that point wore a rut into the lock washer. But to add insult to the injury of that, possibly caused by the "loosness" in the hub, my wheel bearing was on it's last leg as well. But she's good as new now.... and i'm broke
  2. I'm not sure exactly if it is a bunk CV I got or maybe something else has gone awry. But It seems to me that there is alot more whirring coming from the drive then before. As well as when I shift gears or just use compression to slow the shift of the cars weight makes something clunk. My old camry made a similar noise... I think it was a strut gone bad and making noise. But the Soob started shortly after getting it's new axle, and has gotten consistant in it's new louder fashion. I did hear it clunk a few times, not always, repeatedly like a bad CV clacks when it goes, but with alot deaper thunking instead of clacking. Anybody expirience this before???
  3. Sorry... Familly is coming into town that weekend. And I have to cancel... TAKE LOTS OF PICS... I wanna see what I'm missing
  4. My 83 wagon makes, what I think is a similar noise, when Accelerating and esspecially while turning right. It's going "Clackitty clack clack" It's not so regular like I've heard when a CV goes bad. But I havent ruled that out yet. Any help from anybody about this topic would be appreciated my me as well.
  5. I'm in for the Subie conga line. Southcenter at noon eh? Sounds awsome!
  6. I know I can take it to the JY and they will take it, But I'm new at this, first engine swap ever. Should I rob anything from the old one???? It had a big oil leak, and died to to lack of lube (like my old lady ). Theres a blown out crack in the block, under where the fuel rail attatches. And where I took the oil pan off you can see little bits of broken metal shards throughout the engine. Is it, or parts of it, worth anything to anyone??? are there any parts anyone can think of I should save, or sell? Or is it just in the way and I should let it rot in the junk yard?
  7. When I'm driving, mostly on the freeway doing 65-70 or so, my oil pressure guage is sky high... to the red notch at 75 PSI alot. It chills out when I idle, or slow down to in city speeds. Is this normal? Safe?
  8. Are you kidding???? This is a subaru show you're headed to. We barelly do 60 down-hill with a tail wind! I'd love to hook up with one of those groups .... That 6am sounds like a real killer though.... Anybody still down for that Noonish departure time??? I'm Seattle local, can do Southcenter, or Tacoma... It does not matter.
  9. Thats Crazy talk! Evens Creek is hairier then french hookers!
  10. We'll keep an eye out over here as well... that thing looks pretty easy to spot. I had my old RX7 stolen from home depot down by the sodo center. it was gone for 4 months, then I got a call from an appartment said they saw this car with its window down and the security guard there saw the wires dangling from the dash. I just came down, hotwired it myself and drove it home. Turns out the guys that stole it had a radiator hose blow out cuz there was a brand new one on there when I got it back. aside from a dent in the door, pretty good one, it came back in decent shape. Got my fingers crossed for ya man
  11. Is it a bad idea to run with larger pipes? Like what I think miles was saying a 2-1/4" pipe through the cat and muff. Would 2-1/2 or 3" be too big? Would probably just bog it down huh? The SPFI Y pipe is 2-1/4? and will that bolt on to the original outlets on an EA81? Likewise if anyone has pics of their custom piping work I'd love to sneek a peek at em
  12. That sounds pretty nice, now I'd have to be rid of the y pipe completelly with the dual in dual out. That would take some fancy pipe work wouldnt it? Then as far as free flowing you mean cherry bombs, or any coffee can muff like the hondas have?
  13. That Rocks SO HARD! Keep us updated on it's performance That Cog looks HEAVY! Curious what kinda weight it adds to your allready meaty pully
  14. Is that little ground wire from the frame to the radiator hooked in solidly? I had the same problem... that fixed it right up. If not that, try jiggling the connection from the sending unit on the passenger side of the radiator. Mine was corroded and needed some jiggling. But check that little ground wire... Bet thats it
  15. I'm gettin ready to redo my whole exhaust... I'd love some suggestions on what way to go to best fit the rig. I have an EA81 and it is currently backfiring a lot. I wasnt sure if there was a better "Y" pipe that can be used to replace the stock/rusty/hole filled one I have. I've also heard of people saying screw the Y pipe and just going straight dual exhaust from the engine back. Id have to double up on components like cat and muff if I go that route right? If it's worth it powerwise I'll do that. I'm hoping for a better sound, less backfiring and if I can help the overall power by opening up the pipe to a 2-1/2" or 3" pipe I'll do that. Anybody that has done anything please let me know whats worked for you... Thanks!
