  1. I have a 78 subaru brat in really good condition. The only things wrong with it are the seats have a few rips, the dash is cracked (damn arizona) and the rear main seal needs replaced. Other than that it runs like a champ 4wd works fine clean paint. Good carpet new plugs wires oil battery alt new hoses new exhaust 90k on rebuilt motor. And I am the 2nd owner. How much is it worth? I need the money to fix up my truck that is slowly falling apart. Can't find any on craigslist to reference so I thought id ask her. What would you pay? Thanks a lot
  2. do you have any idea how much they charge for the complete carb from the yard your talking about?
  3. i want to keep it completely stock. and all original cause this is like the only clean one i've seen and like the only one that hasn't been lifted and raped off road haha. so im staying factory as possible its the beginning of a collection. when im older it will be worth something for sure.
  4. im in as well. mines so bad it just fell out when i jacked my car up
  5. i hope not! yeah my first gear goes to about 20 or 25 ha so thats not it. i think (and hope) its the choke. can you just replace the choke and should there be a spring on it cause i didnt see any springs going to the the choke. theres just a thing that looks like a throttle and it spins back and forth just like a throttle but it spins freely. i thought that was pretty weird
  6. i have the right tire pressure for my tires but not for the car. should i switch that? and i dont think my choke is engaging when its cold cause in the mornings i have to like manual choke it ha and keep on the gas till its warm enough to run by its self? and idk exactly how much right now but from about an 8th of a tank its costs 15 bucks flat to fill. and my rear main seal is leaking and im waiting for my gasket to come in. but would that effect it at all?
  7. i have a 78 brat and everyone else on here says there getting 30-35 mpg out of theirs and i feel like mines going just as fast as my dodge with a 360ci and 35" mud terrains. i filled it up about 2 days ago and i've done nothing but drive to school and back twice = 8 miles total and to autozone witch is right next door to my school once. so a total of ruffly 10 miles and now im on just about a half tank. what the hell! haha. could if just need a tune up or could it be a carb malfunction?
  8. i would keep the carb. its like 250 for a new one and like 230 to get it rebuilt so thats an expensive part. other than that i think everything is pretty simple. but if you have an extra strut mount for the front let me know ill buy one from you. my auto shop said he cant order them at all.
  9. My rear main is leaking so when my gasket comes in on friday ill start it but before that i was wondering if theres a how to or if anyone has any tips. its a 78 brat. i know from looking ill have to drain and remove the radiator, unbolt the motor and unbolt it from the tranny and slide it forward, then remove the old gasket and put the new one on. that sounds easy but will it really be easy? is there any special tools i might need or any techniques anyone has learned from doing it? any info will help. by the way my carb works great now it blew something out of it ha. i got a new air filter today for 99 at autozone it was on sale, did an oil change and replaced all my front lights.
  10. ohh yeah i've been having the hardest! time trying to find wheels for it. as soon as i say 78 brat they start laughing and say good luck ha. and i think it was just plugged. ha but either way it runs like a champ now.. still veryy veryyy slow ha
  11. um im not sure exactly. i have a 78 and it has the 1.6L its a 2 barrel
  12. thank you. i wonder if in AZ if they restrict your driving too with the plates and if i didnt have to pay for tags that would be cool even though its only like 20 bucks a year ha. well thanks for the info. i look forward to doing it!
  13. I HAVE YET TO SEE A SUBARU BRAT IN AZ. OR SEE ANYONE ON THIS FORUM FROM AZ. IF YOU'RE OUT THERE LET ME KNOW!!!! I FEEL LIKE WILL SMITH FROM I AM LEGEND HAHA:horse:
  14. So my carb had a leak and the choke wasnt working and every time i stepped on the gas it would bogg down real bad and out of nowhere today i floor it in first and it popped pretty loud and then accelerated haha. and ever sense then it ran fine thru all 4 gears. could it possibly just been clogged or maybe dirty and the fuel cleaned it? im pretty confused haha. And please if anyone knows of a site where i can find parts for my 78 brat let me know. and will honda wheels fit on it or is it a different lug pattern?
  15. Can i get a historic plate for my 78 Subaru Brat? im doing a vintage look on it and that would make it flow a lot better. also im looking for a cd player that has a real old look to it without spending a fortune ha. ive seen them at car shows but never bothered asking till now
