  1. Parting car out, check the for sale forums. It's been a long road with the GL10 but recently it got hit by a truck so its time to move on. LOTS OF GREAT PARTS FOR SALE! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=122706
  2. 93 legacy wagon awd 5-speed 260k+ Just started happening : On cold start if I turn the headlights on the car will stumble then die. Restarts everytime. After warmed up it wont die but it will make the idle stumble for a second. Lights work fine. No Drivability Issues. Alternator puts out 14volts while running and 0.02v A/C so its good. Battery Tests good, I even swapped it for another one just in case. Battery Cables and Terminals Clean Added more ground wires in the engine bay Cleaned IAC I'm lost here, anyone else out there had this issue?
  3. Looks dont mean ************ 90% of the time, a streight edge and feeler gauges tell you the real story. .002' or more = bad news, head needs to be machined flat.
  4. Anyone who has built a race car knows what I'm going through and no matter how much you prepare for it ************ happens, this failure was due to the #4 Fuel Injector going bad which ran Cylinder #4 LEAN, out of my control. Had the injectors flowed, #4 flowed 53% less fuel than others. This new shortblock didnt cost me anything since I was able to warranty out another one since I know the parts manager. I have a brand new set of injectors for it from Venom that are 360cc that I will be installing, the injectors that failed were the 280ZX Turbo Injectors. Keep in mind I had 20,000miles of hard abusive driving on that block/build and the compression test showed near perfect compression on all other cylinders, so if it wasnt for the injectors the engine would still be running. BTW Total Project Price 3 motors later and price of buying car = $5000/give or take a few bucks. 5k for a 12-13second car isnt bad.
  5. I allready swapped the block for another brand new one
  6. yeap brand new soa shortblock Ea82T I racked up 20,000miles of pure fun tho
  7. So the XT6 crank pully would have the mark and work? Yes I'm using the XT6 flywheel on the EA82T
  8. Wouldn't that only work for distributor timing and not the CAM/Valve Timing?
  9. Well I dont know if anyone was following my serious LEAN/Hesitation Issue latly but after a high speed run to the beach I noticed a loss in power and boost wasnt holding. Also noticed Blue smoke out the back. Got it back and did a compression test : 150-146-142-65psi #4 65psi Tore the block out and inspected it to find this : Seems as #4 was running extremly LEAN and Detonating!!!!! chunk of piston missing I had the injectors flowed and it turns out #4 was screwed up so that was the problem the whole time but I didnt catch it in time. Well I just finished installing another new SOA shortblock around 7pm hopfing to get it running for Subiefest but I just couldnt make it. Sorry to everyone who wanted to see it. Anyways Just had to vent a llittle.
  10. Ok so I went to install my new shortblock today since my old motor toasted the #4 piston and rings (chunk of piston missing) due to #4 Injector bad running cylinder lean. And I installed the timing belts and timed it using the marks on the xt6 flywheel. Well now the car runs like ************ and has no power and low vacuum. I'm willing to bet its the xt6 flywheel timing marks being different I just have a hunch! i've checked the belts 3 times and its all lined up to those xt6 marks. Someone please chime in who knows the answer or has retimed a Ea82T with XT6 Flywheel. BTW Dizzy was never removed so its right. Thanks
  11. Ok so check this out : I'm over at my buddy Josh's house eating dinner hanging out, when I notice he has the new Test Drive Unlimited game! So I have to have it of course so we set out to Fred Myer to go see if they had it. I make a right turn out of his house and I look in the mirror and I have a Sheriff right on my rump roast. I pull up the stop sign, then proceed to go and he lights me up! I'm thinking to myself what the ************ did I do?!?! He pulls me over and comes up and tells me that my license plate was bent and it looked like someone was trying to steal my plates, so I get out and look and sure enough its all folded up! I then remember going threw the Car Wash earlier and explained that to him. He nods and starts shining his flashlight all over my car checking it out. I think see him smiling!!!! He then starts asking me about my car and what I had done to it!!! He says "I heard you back there, this thing sounds awesome!" He liked my HID Headlights and says "MAN Those are REALLY COOL" He then looks inside and says "Wow you got a little racecar here" Still Smiling. We start talking about what I had done to the car and stuff and he even asks me "This thing have NITRO in it?" At this point I was happy and couldn't beleave it! He then just checks my license and as he leaves he says "Yeah My Friend had a Subaru and MAN that thing was FAST!" He then leaves and tells me to have a good night. This made my week!!!!! Now that is one cool COP! I wish there were more COPS out there like this guy. I actually have a little more respect for them now, beleave it or not.
  12. Thanks for all the replies guys!!!! Ok Here's the deal. I'm using the standard bosch plugs not the +4 crap that most people have issues with. I agree NGK makes great plugs but at the time I built the engine I needed a plug that was 1 heat range colder than stock for my setup and bosch was the only one that had this for the EA82T (this was at the time) If I find NGK's with a heat range colder I will gladly switch. The cap/rotor are new as well as the wires. The surge tank sounds like the solution except I also am starting to get this cutting out in a streight line without turning....This leads me to beleave I have some debris in the fuel tank pickup. I'm going to be removing the tank and inspecting it this week sometime and I will let you know. I have also been told by other Subaru tech's at my work that I may been exceeding the limit of the factory fuel tank enginieering, so a fuel cell might be in order The power levels i've extracted from the EA82T are starting to get into the serious catagory hence allmost all the remaining stock stuff is starting to give up LOL Seems like every new mod I add to make even more power just brings other problems with it! 16psi sure is fun tho After I get this issue fixed the turbo will be upgraded to a TD05H-16g  then I will be ready for subiefest.
  13. Ok, where do I start : I have allways had a problem where after taking a long right hand corner by my house at high speeds when I would exit the corner and jump to full throttle the car would buck and hesitiate have not accelerate (Wideband reads LEAN) This only happened when the gas tank was low on fuel around 1/4tank, anything above was ok. I have since changed the fuel pump to a walbro 255, the problem still existed after, seemed a bit worse tho, so I made a point to keep the fuel level 1/2tank or higher when driving hard. Tonight I was down on 1/4tank and was out in the back twisties with a buddy in his z06 vette, and I was doing great about 5min in, then the problem showed its ugly face again, so I stopped and filled it up and continued on, the problem persisted! and Now it was doing it even in a streight line! I'm stumped. Wideband reads LEAN when this happens and it backfires. Allmost feels like a fuel cut, but that has been deleted with the e-manage ultimate! I also noticed if I load it up in like 5th gear on the highway and spool it up past 10psi or so to pass a truck up a long hill it will do the same thing! less of a load its ok? Any thoughts? What does the fuel pickup in the tank look like? Maybe thats it?
