  1. All the timing marks line up with each other. The lines on the timing belt line up with the marks also. So I believe it is properly timed. I was going to shoot some starting fluid into the intake tomorrow morning to see what happens. I hope its not compression, I don't want to pull the motor again lol
  2. Yes the fuel line from the filter is going to the top connector on the manifold. I went to the pick and pull and got me a computer from a 2.2 legacy. The engine looks identical to the 2.2 I have in my car now. I also got a new set of timing pulleys, just in case. I spent all morning swapping out parts with no luck. I checked for spark, there is definitely spark. I am so mind boggled right now. I don't know what else to try. Sorry for bugging everyone with this mess, I just want to get it back on the road! lol
  3. Thanks! 1. I am using the 2.5 harness. 2. The locations of the senders on the pulleys are slightly different, so I changed out for the plastic ones. 3. Not sure on the timing Gear. As far as I can tell they are the same, but I have not had a chance to compare the two side to side. Compression seems good, there is gas being delivered, as for spark I am not so sure of, I am going to be looking into that. Now to find a few minutes to diagnose it. Thanks for your help, I will update with whats going on.
  4. Yeah come to find out it was the earlier 91-95ish engine. But I am using the 2.5 harness. I am trying to pull the codes but I cant get my hands on an OBDII code reader. I am going to loan one from Autozone after I get payed. As for spark I am not sure if that is the problem yet, I have not had a chance to get out and check it, The weather has been crap.
  5. This is what my legacy is doing- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2cv0oR1eJI I will try the spark plug wires in the morning. But this is from earlier after switching the timing pulley.
  6. Alright so I looked at the timing pulley and they did look different. The offset of the sensor pick ups were a little off the side. So I switched out the pulleys and redid the timing and now when it turns over it sounds better doing that, but it still wont start.
  7. If you mean switch the sensors, then the 2.5 sensors are the ones I put on it, because the 2.2 engine didn't have them. If your saying switch the sprockets then I could try that too, but I will make sure its getting spark first. Thanks again! I am trying to find posts on nasioc, here, and a few other subie forums that could help.
  8. There are both the cam sensor and the crank sensor. I will test spark when I get off work. Thanks!
  9. 97' legacy. I am assuming I am getting spark, I don't have a voltage tester to check. The coil pack is good, and the plugs are good, the only thing that might not be is the new wires I just got. I am working on getting an OBD II code reader to see why the Check engine light is on.
  10. Alright to catch everyone up to speed- I dropped a 2.2l motor into where my 2.5l was. I did this because the 2.5l had a rod knock. I am using the 2.5l computer and harness, everything is plugged in. When I attempt to start it, it will just turn over, and over, and over. But will not start. I am stumped. I know the coil pack is good, it worked on my old motor. The spark plug wires are assumed good, and the plugs are good also, because they were just replaced in the other motor and it ran. I have looked through the repair manual at the troubleshooting page. The only thing I think it could possibly be is a clogged injector or bad injector. Or possibly I should just get a 2.2l computer and stick it in? The 2.5l was DOHC. the 2.2l is out of a 96 or 97 with roughly 68k miles. *USDM motor* What would cause it to not start?
  11. Only difference that I know of is the EGR valve. USDM has it, JDM doesn't. If you don't have one, it is possible it will throw a code. :-\
  12. Hmm, so now what? Give up and ditch the suby? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbDZ1ryJuO4
  13. To tell you the truth the engine I just bought had one already installed. I didnt realize what it was til you posted that link to the part. I just dont have the cord for it It actually hooks into the bottom of the block where there is a metal plug. So I wouldnt expect it to be to hard to install.
  14. If it doesn't work for the 3rd time I would have you explain in detail, but until then I wont bother you to do it lol
  15. Alright so I am somewhat lucky. I will go ahead and attempt the timing again. Thanks for the assurance and your help
  16. Hmm, so I would have to try again on the timing? For the 3rd time lol Is there still a possibility that there is a bent valve? I have an extra set of heads from my old motor. But I dont want to tear down both engines unless I have to.
  17. Interesting, So my friend held the paper about 2" from the tip, it blew out, then sucked in. So he put it right up against it. It blew out, then sucked in. Then I stopped cause I didn't want to mess up the engine anymore than it already is. I took a short video of the smoke coming out the intake, I will host it on youtube and post it up here after work.
  18. Does it sound more like a ticking noise? If so its making the same noise mine made before it seized up. If thats the case I would recommend getting the valves checked and maybe realigned.
  19. Alright I will run the "Paper test" and go from there. Thanks for your help Everything I have read says the smoke out the intake is a timing problem. Which is why I had a mechanic come do the timing for me. Is it possible the computer has a problem? Is there a computer timing?
  20. Alright I will do that before I break open the compression tool. If it is a bent valve, would I be able to just do a valve job on the one side with the bent valve or would I have to do all of them?
  21. I actually had a mechanic come over and help the second time, because I thought the timing was off when I first replaced the belt. The engine supposedly ran when the guy before me took it out of his car for an STI 2.0 swap.
  22. The motor is from a 97' Legacy GT. The exhaust is not clogged. I have not had a chance to run a compression check yet. I will run a compression check in the morning. As for the bent valves, its a possibility. I got the motor and it already had a new timing belt on it, However I bought a new one and installed it. 140k miles on the motor.
  23. What does white smoke out of the intake mean? I know it definitly isn't good. I just finished swapping in an EJ25D motor into where one used to be. Timing is perfectly on. I drained the oil to check for coolant. Not a drop. What is the problem?
  24. I didnt end up pulling the motor, just removed the fan shroud and upper radiator hose. Then fixed the timing. This was the problem with the timing. The sensor wasnt picking up the two missing "teeth" Good thing I still had the spare engine sitting there to take parts from.
