  1. Just did a check on the timing and all is well. Could it be my carb has kicked the bucket, my choke works fine.
  2. The part i love the most about cars making them work. Now that the vacuum leak has been fixed the car wont stay running. Everyone around me says timing is off or the mixture is off. What could it be? If it is the timing is it easy to fix? I have the Haynes manual and its oh so descriptive.
  3. Yeah im good to go now! I was completely missing a vacuum hose.
  4. I got it going again i had a major vacuum leak and got it fixed now i just need to make sure the timing is right.
  5. I found the diagram and it was a good one and easy to understand. I need to fine tune my timing which shouldn't be too bad. I will get some pictures of the diagram and post them here for future reference.
  6. Stickers dont do me any good an actual photo showing me where they go exactly would be better. Here are some pictures that are ok, but i need more help.
  7. I just need some pictures of the area around the carb with the air box off, my hoses got disconnected and i cant get them right. Its the hoses on the left side(choke hoses) of the engine if you are at the front.
  8. If you get a chance 4x4 that would be great, im basically on the corner of falls and locust, first brick house with wooden fence, cant miss the car.
  9. Yeah a lot of the time i have to pump the pedal a few time to get it going then hold it down to make sure it stays going. Is there anything else i can do to the ea71 to get better mileage?
  10. i believe i found it and did what you said so now we just play the wait and see game. Would that be affecting my mileage that much.
  11. where is the choke located, how do i fix it and do you by chance have a real picture of it?
  12. My '80 subaru gl with 160k on it is being very bad. First thing is im getting horrible mileage 9 gallons of gas gets me 100-120 miles. Its got newer plugs, wires, air filter, distributor cap and rotor, the fuel filter has to be custom ordered and takes a week to get here(still need to get it), and i use MMO in the tank. Another thing is if i start it at any time it will die within 45 seconds, even on warm days and takes about 5 minutes to warm up. The last thing is randomly when i drive the cars starts to jerk and shake i have no idea why it does that only that it does. Side note; its a 1.6l 4 speed and i was wondering what would be the best rpms to shift for better mileage, now im shifting at 2-3k. Thanks for the help in advance
  13. There is just the two hoses. From the gas tank the lines go to the frame by the tire on the right side then go across the body to the left side and actually go into the body and if i followed them correctly are located under the bottom door trim piece. Then they go to the drivers side firewall where they meet the fuel pump and filter.
  14. Does anyone know where the primary fuel filter is on the '80 GL? All the auto parts stores show a primary and a secondary, the primary is an in-line filter and the secondary is right next to the fuel pump which is on the drivers side firewall. I have searched for a week trying to find this primary filter that they are talking about to no avail. And to make matters worse no one even has the secondary fuel save for the subie dealership we have here, but i wonder how much they may want for one.
