  1. thought i would post my numbers too. im in australia and not sure if the engine number would be any use to you guys, but anyway... year: 5/84 VIN: JF2AM5ERO1G0290xx engine:EA81 524347 im not sure if the engine is the original
  2. nice to see an EA81 getting a rebuild and not swapped out for another subaru motor. are the EA82 pistons the same size as the EA81's or did you have to get the engine bored out a bit? what was the cost of the rebuild if you dont mind me asking? my engine went bang today (think it broke a connecting rod) so now im looking at the cost of a rebuild or swapping the engine if my one has too much internal damage. James
  3. hey everyone, i have a 1984 subaru station wagon with an EA81 engine that i am rebuilding the carby for. i have one problem though, how do i know what sort of carburetor i have? i know its a hitachi but the numbers have come off the float chamber. its got a 2 wire electrical plug and manual choke. any ideas? i did a search but there was nothing on the different types of hitachi carbs thanks for any help
