  1. Do you have the rubber accordion shift boot? If so try removing the boot and driving without it. Might be bunching up and pushing the lever back in 4th. I found my Impreze shifts alot better with a leather boot than the stock rubber one. I just replaced the shift yoke and bushings on mine and it makes the shifting nice and crisp but its a HUGE pain in the arse to replace.Like 6 hours of knucking busting under the car kind of pain. I'd have a mechanic do it. I'll certainly never do it again.
  2. Ahhh, you don't need snow tires on a WRX. You just need a friend with a Jeep.
  3. I have to wonder if you could adapt a set of linked 2bbl Kadron carbs from an aircooled 1.8L VW motor. My 67 Ghia had them and that little car screamed at WOT after the dual carb setup was installed.
  4. I'm in. Sold the wagon but I'll bring the Heep. Wheeled West through Naches last weekend and it was a dust bowl. Evans will probobly be the same. Might want to bring a spare airfilter or at least plan on cleaning your old one at some point during the trip. Oh, and bring BUG SPRAY. Bring lots and lots of pure DEET...Skeeters are getting really bad.
  5. Welcome! I'll be down in Astoria all weekend for my high school reunion. Cool town, I grew up there. I was bummed they closed reservoir road up to pipeline. Might have to go wheeling out in Knappa if we can't find an open gate around Astoria. They really locked that place up tight. I checked 1/2 a dozen roads we used to drive up into the mainline maze with. All locked. Even the rock pit above Multnoma Falls was closed. We'll find a way in, we always do. See you on the trail. Keep an eye out for us this weekend.
  6. Had to do it. Finally got one of those rip snorting wheelie poppin KTM's I mentioned at the beginning of this tread. Sold the Kawsaki and bought the bike I've always wanted. No not new, it's an 05 450 MXc Racing model but it's by far the fastest dirt bike Ive ever been on. Not sure how it got through State Patrol but it has a valid WA plate.
  7. Might be worth checking the local auto classifieds over there. If Sammies are anything like the 80's Toyota 4x4's they want WAAAAAAY too much for them. Talking 500% over Bluebook expensive. Be cheaper to crate a rust free one over. And yes they rust like mad over there. I've spent most of my time on Kaui and the big island but the few solid axle Yodas I saw for sale were 5 grand stock, 6 to 8K lifted and locked. They have some wierd attraction to super wide small mud terrains too,18" wide 28"tall type stuff. I didn't really get it. No sand to drive on and the trails are ATV narrow so wide tires wouldn't help. Here's one from the Hilo side.
  8. I can't believe today is opening day at the Mariners stadium. This is what it's like in the small town of Ashford WA right now.
  9. Hey I do have one! The cable was disconnected but I think it'll work. Curious feature, I'll have to look closer at how it actually works. Curiuos how it knows your going uphill. I'm assuming it doesn't put the brake on rolling downhill or up to a stop sign.
  10. Might be, Usually they leak out the bottom of the pump on the inline 6 when they go out. Good news is it's easy to replace and costs very little. Could your alternator be going out? The whining is common with those. Also easy to replace. Love that about Jeeps.
  11. If it's anything like the early 4Runner 3VZE 3.0L V6 it's a pain in the arse. The main crank pully needs to come off,rad comes out, water pump, and a whole bunch of other crap is in the way. Replace the water pump while your at it. trust me you NEVER want to do it again. I'd reccomend asking on the 4x4wire or searching under the Toyota section for some first hand advice on the newer model V6. Might be alot easier. Here's what mine looked like 1/2 way though. Kept finding bad sensors and split hoses. Sucked. Took about a month to fix.
  12. Forgive my Subernoobness I'm a Jeep guy just getting into these. How do I tell if my 83 wagon has said "hill holder" feature? The motor and some of the drivetrain/suspension parts are from a later Brat.
  13. Slacker

    new toy

Damn, that is sexy! Nice find.
  14. Now that all the friggin ice is finally gone what are you you guys (gals too) riding? Yep, riding season is upon us. Old gas, flat battery, cracked tires. Uh,huh. Been awhile. I'm doing the dual sport thing for now. KLX250s. Not a bad bike. Certainly no rip snorting wheelie poppin KTM 610 but it didn't cost much either. It's super light and fun to ride around.
  15. If you have a lifted early model Subaru the rear 2007-2009 Jeep Rubicon JK, X JK and Unlimited JK shocks bolt right in. Mines and 83 Wagon, not sure waht other models fit. I'm new to Subis so sorry if I can't be more specific. You do have to file or grind open up the slot in the bar pin a bit to fit the stock Subi bolt through. Good news is most people lift thier jeeps right away and the stock heavy duty shocks can be bought for next to nothing. The Old Man Emu's for the Jeep are 3" longer to match the lifted coils. The JK coils will also lift any TJ 3" and the all the JK shocks fit TJ with the lift. Keep that one to yourself or there won't be any JK shocks around to use in Subis.
  16. Thanks guys. Can't wait to go play in the mud and not worry about losing fenders and crushing doors. Downside of owning a new Jeep is not owning a new Jeep. Bank of America has a nice Jeep!
  17. Ahw, he's just some bum from the West side. Drinks Bud light and plays with cars all day. Title and collector plate coming. Don't need no stinking tabs mang...
  18. Well, almost CURRENTLY on the road... Cut,grind, hammer, repeat.
  19. Whats up gang. Long time Jeep/Yoda fan but I'm new to 4x4ing Subarus. Looking forward to some summer wheeling. Hope to meet up with some other hatch fans and hit Tahuya, Evans, Elbe and a few others in the area. Here's the whip in it's current state. Almost ready to wheel thanks to Zap. His weath of Subi knowlege and mad skills with a die grinder made it possible! Cheers! D
