  1. Have you gotten a quote on refoaming/reupholstering the seats yet? I'm very curious as to how much they tell you. I've resigned to seat covers for now but they obviously won't do as a permanent fix.
  2. Nice car. I see what looks like an uncut dash with the original radio and everything! Do minimal mods if any. Those are emerging classics/antiques.
  3. If you decide to replace the bumper or at least get new parts for it, let me know. I'd be interested in the rear bumper corner moldings.
  4. Thanks for that! Does anyone know if I can have any hope at all of the back seat fitting?
  5. I agree. Those years are what made me go back to 80's Subarus. Post-2000s cost more than I'm willing to pay right now. Do get all the recommended work done as per another post. All Subarus will need all those done and labor is a grip and a half.
  6. I would stay away from one with a moonroof if you are concerned about room. The ceiling in the car is lower to allow room for it to slide. I'm 5'10" and had a headroom issue when I had my hair done.
  7. I found a guy who has seats from an 88 GL-10 sedan about 2 hours from me. Does anyone have any experience putting seats like that into an older Subaru? (mine is the 82 GLF coupe) What needs to be done to make them fit?
  8. Ha! I read this thinking you meant firecracker (out of frustration over repair problems)!
  9. Sounds like your engine may not last very much longer without a lot of work. Let me know what you find out. I know of a 98 that used to do similar things and the dealer couldn't figure it out.
  10. Riding in the back of a Brat makes you vomit??? Not me.
  11. I got 242,xxx out of a 90 Legacy LS with just normal things like timing belt changes and oil seal changes. It ran great even then. The only reason I sold it was because the sensors started going, making the check engine light come on, and CA won't smog a car with the light on. Had I had that car here in KS, I would have literally driven that car until the wheels fell off. Its wiring harness is now in a Subaru Vanagon. I'm happy to say I got an 82 GLF recently with only 99,xxx for only $900!!!
  12. What do you have in the way of seat covers for the front and back? Is the car you're parting out one of the boxy Loyale coupes? I've got an 82 GLF coupe. Do you have pictures?

    Thanks-

    Jessica

  13. Good job! I was thinking of doing the same thing with that one - and I'm only a half hour away from Wichita! Subarus in Kansas are a steal - I got a steal recently too. Good luck with your project!
  14. Anyone have any experience getting a little old Subaru re-upholstered (at a shop)? How much did it cost?
  15. How much did it cost to have it painted? (I guess I'm assuming you're the one who got it painted) This is my 6th Subaru - model years 82-98. It wouldn't be a Subaru if it didn't have some kind of funky electrical issue. Luckily mine have had to do with inside lights, malfunctioning automatic seat belts, rough idling for no reason only to stop when turning the car off and then back on (the dealer couldn't even figure that one out and the Car Guys didn't take my call!), and having to hit the dash (hard) to get the defroster to come on. I hope number 6 is different. Good luck with yours! I can say that pre-1995 are the best years, although they got complicated in 90.
