  1. 2000 OBW, 130,000 I have been wanting to do some prevent maintenance on the fuel fill pipe. My tech told me to clean it and spray undercoat on it. I'm not much of gearhead and I am having a hard time getting to it. Can someone tell me how to get at it properly? Maybe some illustrations? Thanks in advance Lefty
  2. I was reading this forum yesterday. I think it would be helpful to you. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=18175 Good luck!
  3. Thanks, Rob. I guess the only solution is one where the doors must stay closed for it to work. I'll try to think of something and maybe patent it! I am surprised Subaru didnt come up with something, given they were after the outdorrsy people market. I think most Subies have the window frame now though. Have Rob, what fests you go to in BC? Ever go to Shambala? Im in NB btw.
  4. 2000 OBW, 120M The Mrs. and I went camping last wknd in our OBW. We usualy tent but it was kinda damp and we weren't going to be spending much time in the tent anyway (at a music festival). We layed the seats down and blew up our air mattress inside, worked great! It was getting hot but if we rolled the windows down, mosquitos would get in. With the frameless door glass, I cant find a proper solution for the next time. Most of designs are like this one. http://www.bookofjoe.com/2007/05/car_window_scre.html and some are like this one http://www.theskeeterbeater.com/products.html but none seem to fit the frameless door glass design of my car. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
  5. Ive had misfirings steming from corrosion on the coil pack terminals. some sand paper and break cleaner did the job for me.
  6. wow, that's a great deal! I just bought my '00 OBW for 4K + taxes. sorry, I dont know about the trans code.
  7. I think I had the same code, it turned out be corrosion on the coil pack heads. Some sandpaper and a little break cleaner later and the code went away.
  8. I have the same noice/resonance when the fan kicks in while Parked. It surely sounds like vibrating sheet metal. Any ideas where exectly this could be coming from?
  9. Hello, I just bought my first Subie, 2000 Outback Wagon, Auto. She's a beauty. I love it and I havent even had my first winter with her yet. I am having several minor issues with it however; the light on the gear shift is not working, all other lights and accesories are working fine. Any ideas? Secondly, there is a shaking at certain speeds, 80-115kms specifically. It goes away at 115kms but it is still mildly apparent at slower speeds like 60kms. The guy I bought it from said that the tires (new) are "snaked" meaning that the mold used to make the tire had some imperfections. I brought car to a new and used tire guy, Jerry's Tires, he noticed the brand and knew right away what the problem was, even before removing the tires. he took the front two off and showed me the tread groove had a little play, back and forth. I took it to the store where he bought the tires and had them take a look. They said there was no "snake" and they balanced them and put them back on. I told him what the tire guy said, he responded with "well... most tires arent perfect, but that's not what causing your shaking". I asked the fellas that balanced the tires to check if there was any play side to side and up and down, none. Back breaks, needed to be replaced though, done. Thirdly, can someone describe what a bad sway mount sounds like? Im getting a "jingle" in the rear when I hit a bump while turning. Thanks a lot
