  1. iirc, jeeps can drive around without doors because they have about 4-5" of a lip on the floor... subarus do not have this
  2. I can't possibly stress enough the importance of knowing where it is legal to offroad... my house burnt down so the next day, as I needed some "head clearing" time I took the jeep on this trail that goes back onto some new york state land about a mile from my house this place is called "the sands" there are crazy dunes, and kids party there all the time. I was just going for a ride, and I was alone, so I didn't plan on straying from the main trail too much lest I get stuck well anyway, as I was going down the main trail I got to a wide open area and noticed a big red dodge truck coming at me from ahead, and since the trail wasn't wide enough for us to meet anywhere but where I was, I pulled off to the side a little bit. said big red dodge came barreling down upon me, came to a skidding halt in the trail, and a forest ranger jumped out with gun in hand. at this point, I spilled my bag of skittles all over the damn floor, and of course it was hot so they later melted all over the place and caused a sticky mess, but that's a different story anyway, the forest ranger ripped me out of the jeep, gun in hand and told me he was going to arrest me for being on a trail that was not designated for motorized vehicles in a state forest. he then got the idea that he got a "whiff of the green stuff" so to say (I'd been raking through my families burnt belongings for a day and a half previous, and was still even covered in soot) so he decided to tear the jeep apart looking for my stash, which he never even found, being incompitent, but that's also a different unrelated story. I made it out of the situation with no tickets or gunshot wounds with some smooth talking, but I don't take that trail anymore, or any that I'm unsure of, really.... after all this rambling, the important thing is to NOT WHEEL THERE IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT'S COOL FOR SURE!!
  3. for power steering I'm going to try to use the cybrid pump and rack from my parts xt6.... should be fun
  4. I agree with the removable pins instead of bolts.... this is the way the swaybar on my brother's jeep is setup... seems to work nice
  5. this is more or less my plan as well, without the ej22 swap, and seeing as how I don't currently have a wagon......
  6. I was under the impression that newer diesels have bypassed the use of glowplugs for cold starts by having the ECM retard timing and inject fuel at a later time, as well as compressing the air more which will cause more heat.... please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm trying to learn more about diesel engines
  7. t3h sweetness! yeah, sorry I missed that in originally post
  8. rock crawling eh? ..... might wanna add D/R tranny to the list?
  9. wait, you have a convertable xt6? never heard of such a thing, nor was I aware that any were made got any pics? might wanna check out www.xt6.net as there is a wealth of information there. you can convert your air suspension to coil over suspension quite easily, and if you go to xt6.net and look in the general forum there is a "Huck's Ultra Secret Suspension" thread and this covers putting aftermarket coilovers on your xt6
  10. check http://bbs.legacycentral.org this is THE place for questions about your old legacy
  11. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but STi wheels won't fit on your RS... they use a different bolt pattern I think.... maybe that's just the newest sti's though
  12. so in other words your transmission is eating itself from the inside out in an extremely rapid fashion? I mean.... if it won't hold itself on a hill in gear, that's really bad..... I'd try and look into that and see why it's shredding your gears, and see if there is a way to slow it down or stop it altogether... seems like if you don't you're going to be replacing that newly installed transmission a lot quicker than you hoped to be
  13. check out www.xt6.net it's like a support group for people that can't find aftermarket parts for their subaru xt's :-\
  14. you're in washington... that's practically the land of the subaru's... try the "meet'n'greet" forum to see if you can offer people free beer to work on your car or something
  15. nobody wants it.. must've been a "tip"... wish I got tipped that well
  16. I'll have to check and make sure that's not the same weekend as MOEdown (music festival in turin, ny) because if it is I'll have to pass.. moedown it will be
