  1. i have a similar question. i can get an entire legacy with a ej22t for 500 bucks thats been wrecked and i wanna put it in my 90 loyale. i was planning on just n/a but i can get the entire car with running engine for 500. i want to hook it up to a dual range tranny. is it doable to have a clutch on the ea tranny that will hold up to a bone stock 2.2t? i need to figure this out soon because the car isnt going to sit there long. i know i need the conversion kit and im gonna get it from sjr but what else am i going to need that i cant get off the totalled legacy. i need a new engine anyway and the only mods i currently have is a 3" lift. i know this is a newb thing to ask but ill keep doing research on here. any advise from someone who has dont a ej22t in a ea82 car thanks
  2. its built for autox, not drag, and its the 4cyl caravan motor, the bigger v6 actually nets lower times cause of its weight and its not really performance oriented. its a big heavy slug. but my engine isnt tuned yet, its only got like 1000 miles on it. i cannt figure out what the problem is, its got no throttle response and wont rev over 5k and its runnin rich, when i get the ms tuned right it should be a lot faster. and im not comparing cars, i was just seein if there was anybody that had interest in mopar. and lastly my neon isnt an srt its a 98 r/t
  3. wannabe? what exactly do i wannabe? this photo was taken by a photographer at an annual NWTuner bbq during the burnout contest. and i dont think im a poser if my n/a neon run low 13's, and i broke 12's on spray. id say thats pretty quick. those threads are cool, i plan on puttin a ej in my soob, if i can put a caravan motor in my neon and run it on MSII+ that i customized to run dual fuel banks and individual coils, i can put an swap an ea for an ej and how am i an sti/wrx imitator?
  4. heres a pic, maybe ill get a response, but probably not,old school subie doesnt sound like too many would be into a neon lol
  5. well i guess not, i have a neon and its pretty quick. sunday night at our annual "get together" i beat my buddies 13.2 sec mustang. surprised us both cause im not boosted yet
  6. anybody in here into them or have one? ive got a neon ive done quite a bit to, but it seems all the other forums but neons.org dont have any, so just wondering if theres any mopar 4cyl guys in here.
  7. well thats sounds reason enough for me. my old 86GL i had (first car) had 365K on the completely original engine. stop driving it cause it got totalled by a douche
  8. no i wont be transplanting till spring at least, i need to make it through this winter. maybe ill run a solvent flush through the whole engine then do the filter thing. thanks for the help
  9. exactly same story with me. ill be boostin the 2.4 i put in my neon this winter. im already runnin low times but im shootin for 10's on some custom steelies and street tires.
  10. so your saying i should probably clean out the new filter too. i wont be driving it too much until i start putting my standalone in the neon. but im drivin the neon till it starts gettin cold, no interior, no heater, no heat. or a defroster. im still doing a little research to see if it would be easiest/cheepest to go rebuilt EA82T or EJ. i can get both engines for 150, well the EA non turbo at least, if i could find the turbo i could get it too. so the price of just the longblock isnt accounted
  11. well 10k into any tuner will get you a nice show car and track monster in one.
  12. well technically it runs 13's, but spray breaks the 12's and i dont have any proof, so i guess it didnt happen... but doesnt really matter. as far as a dd its quick, but competiton wise, 12's-13's isnt really that fast. i just put a big 4cyl in a very lightened car. my subie is either gettin a rebuild w/ turbo, or an EJ.
  13. imo, i dont think you need to pay 2000 for a good tranny, an putting 10,000 into an MR2 isnt a bad idea, but i would be gettin a whole hell of alot more power than 300hp. 1000 bucks will get you a good strong reliable 300hp. i just bought a 90 loyale wagon myself w 150k, i really wish i had the turbo though. but then again i only paid 200 for it. but good luck with the builds!
  14. heres when i first got it, you can kinda see the grees stripe painted across on the drives side no its running clean, slow as hell, but clean, and has no more spray paint on it you can see my other car in the back, its the blue neon. that little moster runs 12's and hopefully next summer itl have some boost to bring the times down. my plans for the subie is make it an all around north idaho monster. i want a good engine with enough power to run at least low 15's, some good meaty tires, brush gaurds, roof rack, kc lights, air compressor, and a wench. but im already tied up in the neon so funds are low.
  15. I just bought a 91 Loyale TBI 1800 yesterday. ran like absolute crap, but with only 150,000 miles and for 200, couldnt pass it up. so after changing the oil (there was only a quart of sludge in it!!!) and filter, air filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, lucas oil, and fuel treatment. oh i also reattached the exhaust manifold back to the head!!! it was loud as hell. its running smooth but feels like its got no compression. it wasnt smoking until i added fuel treatment so well see how it runs after that. its got a ok body thats had a green stripe spray painted on??? and the interior is emaculate. its like driving a marshmellow, but i need a dd cause my current 12 sec car isnt meant for winter. so yea, thats my intro. nice to meet yo all!
