  1. anybody know if a 1996 legacy outback front knuckle is the same as my 1999 legacy gt? my wheel bearing has been making noise for a while and i found a low milage 1996 outback and thought i would use it to press a new bearing into then throw it on my car. this way i can take my time about it..will it work and go right on? thanks! my lgt has 235k and i beleive these are the stock front bearings? could that be right? both rears went out and replaced at about 210k..
  2. these were a direct fit! had 500 miles on them. retailed for $1400 new and i bought them for $125! nice craigslist find indeed!
  3. i found a set of adjustable Ksport GT Coil Overs for cheap that a guy had on his 04 wrx and im wondering if they'll fit on a 1996 legacy gt? Anybody know? Well i know someone does so thanks!!
  4. Thank you! Now i just need to find something to swap it into!! Any leads?? Thanks again!!
  5. I recently pulled a 85k mile ej25 phase 2 from a wrecked outback and was wondering what years and models it will plug and play into? 2000--20?? and outback, forester, impreza?? Thanks guys!!
  6. I am breaking a 2001 outback with auto trans and keep getting calls asking what years it will fit into and i don't know.. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks!
  7. I had something similar happen to mee a few months back. it almost sounded like metal on metal gringing. it turned out to be that the lug bolts were overtightened and the noise was coming from the bearing. it's worth a shot.. good luck!
  8. thanks for the info guys, i kinda want to build and put this motor in my 99 gt but i just finished up putting a low milage 2.2 in it.. i'm actually just looking for a quick swap and sell. if i can just swap the intake and plug it in then i will go this route. anything else i should know? i'm pretty sure about the knock but is there a way to find out if it is the tensioner? thanks again!
  9. Hello again, A few weeks ago I bought a 1999 lego with a bad ej22 phase II, it has a horrible bottom end knock so i've been looking for a doner motor. Then this last sat i found and bought a rolled 2001 outback with a 95K mile ej25 phase II. Does anyone know if this is a direct swap or will i need to also swap the intake or anything else? Also i will be breaking the 2001 outback if anyone wants tranny, suspension, head/tail lights or anything else.. Thanks for the help!
  10. Honestly......probably not the best route to go. Perhaps put the 99 heads onto the 95 shortblock? I think i like this idea! It will be plan B so heads and intake or? thread link for this? i know it;s all been done before at some point. maybe i'll get some pics going. i wont actually be getting into this until this weekend so i'll be taking notes and prepping. in the mean time i will be searching for a phase II ej22.
  11. thanks for the info. i kinda bought the car sight unseen for almost nothing and assumed it had the ej25 but upon arrival i discovered it was the base line with the phase 2 ej22. so my question still stands, will my desired application work? 95 ej22 into 99 ej22 phase II?? and i plan to check out the tensioner slap theroy. never experienced that and really good info! thanks again!
  12. I just picked up a 1999 Legacy L wagon with a phase 2 ej22 auto trans. It's got a pretty bad knock so it's gonna need a swap. I've also got a 90Kmile 95 legacy ej22 motor and wonder if i can use it. Anyone know? If it's compatable, i might need to swap the intake manifold and make sure the crank timing sprocket is the same. maybe diff Y pipe.. anything else? Thanks as always! Elliott
  13. So i've done a few swaps and i'm familiar with what goes where but late last night/early this morning i was rushing to finish a 2.2 swap and i crossed the two rear drivers side heater hoses! i drove it to work this morning, it did not overheat but felt slugish/sounded funny and now i've got a coolant leak coming from somewhere on the drivers side head/intake! i've got a day off so i'll dig a little deeper but any ideas about where i should be looking? please tell me it's just a intake gasket failure.. the motor is a phase1 2.2. and ya i know..bad rookie move! thanks!
  14. This might seem like a weird question to some but i'm wondering if there would be any benifits to mating the motor and trany outside the vechicle and droping them in together? I have the trans out and wondered if this was possible? thanks!
  15. i'm wondering if anybody know if any other lego/impreza auto trans will bolt up to a 1998 forester with auto? if so what years will work? Thanks in advance guys and gals!
