  1. My buddy has a 99 or 00 RS. Previous owner put an aftermarket intake on. The PCV system has also been mucked with. However, he is all of a sudden hearing backfiring when he accelerates, from what sounds like through the intake. CEL is on, gonna get that checked out. I offered to look before he drives it any more, what should I look for? I'm thinking ignition system, specifically his spark plugs and wires.
  2. Hehehe I think you should watch this. http://www.allerweb.dk/film/cartrailor.wmv
  3. I'm pretty sure I see it... Zap, I think you told me about this idea almost a year ago when I stopped by to pick up a part. If this is what I think it is, this should be pretty amazing (and helpful!) Good luck Ken! - Jeff
  4. Man, this thread started so long ago... I changed plans (slightly) and am now working on getting the 160 horse Nissan SR20DE motor and the Japanese-only, SR20 powered, AWD GTi-R's tranny....... into the Justy I have managed to find the transmission so far, (they come imported on the turbocharged engines people keep tossing into their Nissans) and hold a value of next to nothing. I got mine for $100. Still, not bad for a < 60,000km tranny out of a '98... It's sweet too, electric speedo, hydraulic clutch, I mean this thing was begging to be put somewhere it wasn't supposed to go! As soon as I have some money to toss at the project, I should have an engine, and from there the fun starts! So far the only possible problem areas I have found, is that the engine and tranny are 1" longer than I have room for in between the frame rails. I have a few ideas that look plausible. The other thing is, the axle on the pass. side is going to be pretty damn short, I estimate the shaft's length to only be 4" or so. Before I invest some serious money though, I will find out if this is a very big problem. So yeah, anybody selling a roll cage for a justy
  5. You could carefully spill some pepsi onto your shifter, I bet that would work
  6. I had portal thoughts a while ago. It sounds like you want to build as opposed to adapt an existing portal hub. If you want to avoid the reverse rotation bit, what about a heavy duty chain connecting two sprockets? I'm not an engineer and don't know much about the strength of a setup like this but it sounds like it could work. - Jeff
  7. Probably thought I dropped off again eh? Guess I'm flaky like that. :-\ Anyway, It's finished (upon peer review by you guys) and I have a high resolution posted to my website. It's 20.6mb, 2400x3000px, and when printed should be 8"x10" at 300dpi. Because of the large filesize and the fact it's on my cable connection, you will need to e-mail me if you want a copy. jeff (at) jdccs (dot) com. Zap, Qman, and SubaruJunkie, I already sent you guys a link. There is also a black and white version designed to be copied, and cut in half (two per page) These should sit underneath the poster for people to take. There is also a high resolution version on my website, e-mail me for a link. A preview is below. I decided to keep the wcss.usmb.com link. It is simply a redirect link to the real site, and is a lot easier to remember. If you guys really think it should be changed let me know. I won't take a week to change it either. Here's a smaller view for the message board, followed by a picture of the map.
  8. I have the url that brian came up with (wcss.usmb.net) on there, do you also want me to post your e-mail addresses? BTW, the rough drafts I posted are very low quality, I can't imagine they came out very well. The full size one in photoshop is 2400x3600 px, which is about 8x10 inches at about 3 times as many pixels per inch as a computer screen. I can burn that file on a CD that any kinkos will take and print up as many copies as you want. Did we also want a black and white flyer that looks good out of a copy machine? IE: text and line art with no color or different shades of gray? If so, what kind of dimensions? We could do, say, two per page, so there would be plenty for people to take if a bunch were left at a business.
  9. OK this is real close to the final image. I am done with picking cars although I might try to do a better job making that XT look a little more realistic. The main thing here is the text needs tweaking. I wrote it in about 2 minutes, and I think it needs a little better wording, something more appealing to the masses. Feel free to rewrite it. I can go smaller on the text size for some more room if need be. Also let me know what else you guys think should be changed or improved. Lets shoot for friday on having a final here. Thanks guys, - Jeff http://www.jdccs.com/poster4.jpg EDIT: That object above the WRX is a map. It is nice and clear in the full sized image.
  10. Back now... made some changes. Still need a replacement for the blue wagon in the bottom corner. Preferably it would be a 80's white RX, or a brat. If you guys could look through your collections of sube pics, and find an RX or brat that is in sort of the same position as the blue wagon there now, send it to me at jeff at jdccs.com or even post it here. Doesn't matter what the car is doing, since I am just going to take the blue wagon out, and put a different car in it's place, but still use the huge dust cloud. That is why the car's orientation is sort of important. I can mirror it too, so passenger or driver side doesn't matter, just the angle of the shot. Thanks!! This is how it looks with the SVX. http://www.jdccs.com/poster3.jpg
  11. Thanks for the ideas! I agree, needs more variety... I just couldn't find the right pics. jeff [at] jdccs [dot] com is my e-mail, so send me some good ones. I'm off to school now so I won't have anything new until later tonight. - Jeff
  12. Ahh dammit why don't I go to bed at a normal time?!!? Anyway, I did a little bit more work on the poster. What do you guys think. I need some constructive criticism IE: what needs to CHANGE and what needs to be added? http://www.jdccs.com/poster2.jpg - Jeff
  13. OK had some creative inspiration tonight and have this so far. It's more of a brainstorming, since we can't (legally) use any of the pictures. They are too low resolution to come out good on a printer anyway. Oh yeah, is it "West Coast Subaru Show 6" or "6th Annual West Coast Subaru Show?" I have yet to put the details about the show in, so there's a lot of empty space. Anyway, I need to get some old gen subes on there next... I am looking for some dramatic pics of our old gens that really show them off. I'm goin to bed for now though. http://www.jdccs.com/poster.jpg
  14. I had a good couple hours into one back when we had just gotten the fairgrounds reserved, photoshop crashed though, and I haven't done anything since. My issue was finding royalty free high resolution high quality photos of subes. Maybe tomorrow I will talk to some of the rally photographers, see if they will let me use some photos. -Jeff
  15. Just do what the rest of us do... (I believe that is SubaruJunkie's wagon)
