  1. After a sad day of parting with my 99 Legacy, I am the proud new owner of a 2005 Legacy 2.5i Wagon (atl. blue). Fantastic car except for one thing - no way to play my iPod Shuffle or MiniDisc players. What I'm missing is an aux input (mini-phone) style that I can plug in to. Has anyone tried to figure a way to do this? of how to wire one up to the existing harness? dmp
  2. Thanks for all of the advice - and yeah I am OK, the guy who hit me is OK, and no pedestrians were injured. The whole thing happened at a mid-block crosswalk (whoever decided that was a good idea deserves to be beaten). The market value for the car is listed as follows: KBB Private Party - $7675 (Excellent condition) KBB Retail - $9970 I guess the issue is that to get a car of the quality I currently HAD it would cost me $9970 + tax + License. Does it make sense to call the guys insurnace and tell them that? Does anyone have experience actually winning that battle or am I just spnning my wheels and wasting both of our time? dmp
  3. I have a 1999 Legacy Sedan, Anniversary Edition - spoiler, alloys, moonroof... 78k miles - in fantastic shape, except... Last week some idiot in a pickup rear-ended me. The trunk is pretty torn up (he almost totally missed the bumper) but the car is 100% driveable. Insurnace says it's totaled - the math may work out that way, but everything is still functional (engine, tranny, wheels, glass, etc...) except the trunk. I am planning to get an estimate from the body shop tomorrow. Is there much of a market for this car to be parted or sold in one shot? I don't think I can replace what I have for what they are offering - but maybe I am just too attached to it! You can see pictures of it here: http://www.infopia.com/david/1.JPG http://www.infopia.com/david/2.JPG http://www.infopia.com/david/3.JPG http://www.infopia.com/david/4.JPG dmp
  4. Blitz- You mention different oil could cause the issue - could "bad" gas be the culprit? I ran the tank pretty low and filled it up last night, slight hesitation this morning - completely gone this evening (I've driven about 30 miles today).
  5. Some clarification - power is normal from idle (700) to 1500, then flat until 2000, then away we go... Happens at both full and part throttle, no technique to minimize, and no CEL. I'm am not sure that it was "suddenly" but it is definitely worse than usual. Fuel mileage has been lower for about 3 weeks, but it has been HOT and I always use the A/C - not to mention my driving has been all around town which is unusual for me, so I think I can attribute it to that. No other noises or smells that weren't there before.
  6. 2.2, Auto I hate to say "dead," but that is how it feels below 2k - there has always been a slight hesitation but it has gotten pretty bad lately. Step on the gas, count to 3 while you wait for the needle to pass from 1500 to 1900, and then GO! Any ideas what might cause this? Plugs, wires, and a coil pack all replaced in March... Thanks, David
  7. So 303 it is... BUT, I will try a little silicone (as soon as I get an authoritative answer on the damage/no damage question) on one strip just to see the difference. If it is significant I will surely post pictures and results for all to see! dmp
  8. Looking for a good product to rejuvinate (and protect) the rubber seals around the windows and moonroof. Should help to get rid of some of the wind noise I am experiencing. UT is VERY hot and dry all summer, much of the pliability (is that a word) is gone from my seals but they aren't cracked, just getting hard. Any ideas? dmp
  9. New from the dealer: 181 for the whole assembly (motor and mast), 55 for mast only
  10. I think the motor is ok... mast has been bent for MANY weeks so everytime it powers up/down there is a few clicks at each end (stripping the gears maybe). One way or another the clicking has to go. Carwash huh? Try this dance: 1. Lift bike off roof rack 2. lower wheel over antenna mast tangling mast with spokes 3. bend mast to 45 degree angle 4. curse loudly
  11. 99 Legacy with 2.2... had a similar issue on cylinder 4, replaced the coil pack, good as new! The dealer thought it necessary to scare me with talk of burn't valves before suprising me with the good news. But he did mention the valves are notorious.
  12. Anyone out there have a used power antenna assembly (or functioning mast) that they care to sell? For a 1999 Legacy Sedan.
