  1. Xantrex inverters are my personal favorites of the ones I've used. They come in a variety of flavors, both in square wave and sine wave. For my old shop, I built a mobile design studio into the back of a Sprinter van using a Xantrex sine wave 1500W. That little bugger would power anything. We ran a computer, a digitizer, a plotter, 400W of lighting, and random other goodies off of it, and it just purred. Great inverter.
  2. That's too bad, dude. Although I know how it is. Still, we're gonna miss the updates on that ridiculous motor.
  3. Of those you posted, the Ultragrips would be my choice. I run Yokohama Guardex K2 F720s on my rig and I'm really happy with them. I've only hand them out on one real trail, and they did fairly well, although not perfect. In the snow, they're unstoppable. Their only weakness, like any snow tire, is rain. They're not bad, but they're definately not a rain tire. Tread depth is quite good, although the blocks are somewhat tightly packed. Sidewalls are quite strong, and I've gotten 45,000 miles out of mine - they finally need replacement. I would expect the Goodyears to perform similarly. If you want an AT tire, why not go for the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A? Austin had / Noah has them on the Waterwagon, and they do well. They look pretty cool for an AT as well. But... if you're lifting it, get a mud terrain tire .
  4. Not me! 1992 Loyale Wagon 4WD - Ruby Mica Pearl 1993 Loyale Wagon 4WD - Ruby Mica Pearl I like red.
  5. Aquapel is awesome. I put it on all my windows every six, as well as all my glass lenses. The stuff works wonders.
  6. Welcome to the USMB, and welcome to Seattle! Are you at UW? There's a whole bunch of us Subaruers local to you. I live right up by Northgate mall off of Roosevelt. Your name suggests you might be from a German-speaking country. Is that true? Where exactly are you from? Again, welcome .
  7. Normal. Mine's loud too, but there's no carpet in my rig, so I can hear it clear as day back there. As explained above, it's pressurizing the lines so the car will have fuel to start.
  8. Cool. Shouldn't cost very much. I think I paid $5 for mine, although I pulled it myself. It's just 4 bolts, real easy. I'd bet someone around here would have one they could part with. You might want to make a post in the Marketplace and see if anybody's got one.
  9. Well, there's the factory one, of course, which does a great job protecting the oil pan, but leaves the Y-pipe a little vulnerable. If yours, like mine was, has been taken off for some reason (or you're 2WD), you can get a factory skid off of any 4WD EA82. Otherwise, you're looking at fabrication, as there simply aren't any mass-produced skids available for our old cars.
  10. Not me. I'm down in Portland at the moment. Does sound an awful lot like my rig though.
  11. Here's mine: 8 Pilot Navigator driving lamps, 6 forward-facing, 2 reverse, with 55W Sylvania Xtravisions in them. The roof lights are mounted through the roof rack bars, and the ones on the bumper are attached to a piece of flat aluminum bar that mounts to the inside of the bumper.
  12. Stick a screwdriver in the lock on the hatch and twist. Seriously. That's all there is to it. It'll pop out, unlock, and you can just reattach the clip on the inside when you're done. Don't ask me how I know.
  13. Ahh, very nice. I should look and see if I have any grey interior panels left around that I could experiment with.
  14. Those of you who are using the little cubby: What are you using as the mounting plate? It seems to fit perfectly. That's where I have my lighting switches mounted, but my aluminum plate isn't nearly as purty as those plates. Thanks!
  15. Sweet, good luck. I'll be crewing for Miss Jamie, if she goes. Yours was the 000 car at Wild West, no?
  16. Loyales have a mounting ring setup for a 6.5" speaker. Nab two of those and you can easily put just about any 6.5" in the door, assuming it's shallow enough. The mounting ring gets you about 3/4" of extra space, which is nice.
  17. Bah, a lifter tick is nothing to worry about. I've got 30,000 miles on a ticking engine, and the little fella runs like a champ. My old one had 45,000 on it when I sold it and it ticked every time I started it. Annoying, but nothing to worry about. Search the site for "Tick of Death," you'll find a thousand threads on it.
  18. I just looked at the lightsout.org website - what a bunch of crap. Seriously. I run my Loyale's headlamps 24/7. I never shut them off.
  19. My car sits at completely stock height, with the exception of the extra clearance the tires give me. As far as the speedo goes, I've just learned to live with it. Mine's only off by a few MPH, so I just ignore it.
  20. The 390s are marked as such. All of the wheels will have a size marking on them, just avoid ones that start with 390 . Here's a profile shot: Ignore the graphics and the ugly chrome door handles, they're gone now . The tires are 185/75R14 Yokohama Guardex K2 F720 snow tires, which are just a hair under 26" in diameter, a significant increase from stock. I'm running stock suspension. I only have rubbing issues when out offroading, and even then, it's pretty minor. There's no noticible damage to the tire, even after 45,000 miles.
  21. I've always just used a panel popper to pull the plastic clips away from the body. Seems to work pretty well.
