  1. Nice. thanks, thats all iI was asking plus a gripe aboutthe size of the bumper.
  2. The signal lights are part of the bumper. I think that the 5mph safety increase would have been outdone by the signal visibility decrease. Do you know if the frame rail size was the same between the 2 models?
  3. Does anyone know why the front bumper was changed to stick out so far on the loyales? I think it looks like the car has a fat lip, compared to my 86 GL. The bumper also blocks visibility of the signal lights. I hope i can swap the bumper from my GL to the loyale, but I was just wondering why the change had been made.
  4. I assume that you are installing the 2nd battery over by where the turbo setup would be. I'm planning on doing the same paralell install. I was just wondering if there was a better placefor the battery.
  5. Check the EGR solenoid (i'm not sure if your car has one, but i think it does). The solenoid is a black tube with 2 wires and 2 vacuum hoses going to it. If the spring inside failed, it could block the vacuum line.
  6. I recently opened up a couple of rust holes into the frame of my wagon right in front of the back wheels. I'm looking for the same answer. POR-15 needs rust prep with metal-ready and then a water rinse, I think, and I wasn't sure that introducing more water into the frame was good. If anyone has tips, I would be very grateful.
  7. Those messes of vaccum lines on the Hondas do make them super efficient though. The caddy was on my neighbors scrap pile (he has more than 50 old cars and trashtrucks stashed in the woods) the caddy was the only one with solenoids on it.
  8. It's great to be able to talk with someone on the other end of the county and share in a common subaru obsession. Thanks for the warm welcome from all.
  9. Hey, if its growly, i bet that the exhaust has rusted out just behind the cat. You can take a tomatoe paste can, cut the ends out and slice it lenghwise. Wrap this around the holes and bind it down with wire. Its a cheap fix that worked well on my 86 before the rest of the system fell off. Wrenching your own cars is one i the most satisfying things you can do. have fun
  10. lol I've used the bb gun aproach on squirrels in a house before.
  11. The Gl is my favorite, but i'm dealing with the reality of having the floor pan supports drop off, the amaing dissapearing rocker panels and the exhaust drop off from the cat back. The car is louder than you can believe and still spinns the tires through third (on dirt), but i wonder what is holding the wheels on. The loyale was parked in a yard for 2 years before i aquired it, so it got rust on the quarter panels. I redid the panels and cleaned the mouse nests out of the dash. I just found that the rear wheel wells have rusted through into the tool pans and the rocker panel chambers. I've got the interior stripped up to the front seats. I've got big plans for the inside, but i want to stop all the rust. The gl helps show me where the rust will be. I have a EJ22 in a 92 legacy (2wd auto) and i want to take its engine and mate it to the D/R in the Gl. I just need to find a non rusted body. This is going to be one of those sometime in the future projects.
  12. I had an EGR solenoid go. The dealer wanted to charge $100 for a new part. I don't have that kinda money, so i scavenged one off of a cadillac seville. Cut the wires off of both solenoids, switched connectors, and the caddy part works perfect. $100 or free? wasn't a hard decision.
  13. I had the same thing happen to my loyale. I had to strip the whole dash down and clean each piece of ductwork out to kill the smell. Lots of bleach mixed with water helps. They may have also stomped your fan resistors, i know they did in mine. Take the fan out and put a couple of pine tree fresheners against the heater core, then reinstall the fan. It will reek for a while, but it does help mask the mice smell. Dont forget to remove the fresheners after about a week!
  14. How do i put in the stats about my cars at the bottom of the posts?
  15. Thanks My cars have spent the last 2 years on my driveway. The handling on them has let my hit 40mph in th 86. Subarus are the best all purpose vehicles out there.
  16. Hey, I just decided to take the plunge and join. I met a dead end while working on my wagon and need to search the posts for an answer. I've been reading through the posts for a while (I got to page 75) but the search is much better. I have a 91 SPFI loyale wagon and a 86 carb Gl 3-door. I like the 3-door much better but it is insanely rusted, so i'm goning to use the wagon for my first car.
