thats too bad it got to the wrecking yard. i see that too often.. like last year saw an 84 turbo coupe perfect body...complete!!! car and it was being parted out. i gues people don't or didn't apreceate them.. there rair but not desireable. that being said that would be a sweet restor project..all original take it to shows..it would shock many people... most probably didn't k now they existed. -

I was thinking more of the older gerneration subaru crowd. i like the new ones but its easy to drive thoes up to alaska, not a battle. and i think a group of 10 old school( pre 1990 ) subarus with lights, big tires, gas cans and racks. would look sweet. .. if any one wants to take my idea and make it happen go for it. Im not real sure i will be able to do it any time soon, just trying to finish up my last year and half of college. -
ultimate subaru road trip!!

I was up in Alaska this summer for 10 weeks and it rocked. its beautifull there in the summer. we went fishing and hiking in Denali state park. 14 mile hike blue sky 70 degrees...it was awsome. seriously though you guys are starting to make me think i need to make this happen. the whole idea was that i have never been on a long road trip aside from a few drives to colorado with the parents. This idea came up wile talking to a friend from Soldotna..just a random idea. Im looking for a challange. something that is risky, 2500 miles from my home to anchorage in cold weather and snow. this would take some major prep for me to go and would probably take a week of my time or more. the suby i had in mind dosn't have a lift, stock ea81 with a single barel carb... 150k miles on it. and an iffy transmision. im talking serious look over and a good amount of needed parts to go on the trip. a fatty rack on top with gear tires, gass and a hord of lights. dang im getting excited... if i cant go this has sure sparked some interest. thats a cool thing about this croud of people. helpfull, nice... and so on. I love my vw but you guys seem alot more my style. -
well i think it looks cool..aggessive street look...and its no low rider..just low profile tires.
-
the ORV park near me is free...or as far as i know its free:-p its got some challanging stuff also...for a stock subaru wagon that is.

this would be a very organized trip..no screwing around. Its an idea not a reality. probably a post college venture...if not the winter i will do it in the summer..one of these days. it would be fun to have a carivan of people..safety in groups. -
only time i had that kinda problem is when i went off the road into a snow drift in a wheat field...i had snow caked everyware.... and no i was not pulled out of that...a little nudge but the wagon got out. ...i also had that kinda problem with my vw scirocco...foot deep snow and alot of messing around..kinda scarry sometimes.

sorry but when iread the post title i had to chuckle a little. What articulation:lol:....sorry i love subarus as much as the next usmb member...but there isn't much unless you do some crazy solit axle swap....tall lifts and big tires...but they still don't have alot of articulation. but i'll post mine can you see it...can you see the articulation.

So have this crazy idea, im looking at doing this in the near future ( a year or so ) I want to drive my 82 subaru wagon from Washington (state) to Alaska in the winter..... some say i may be nuts, what a challange that might be. what do you all think. am I nuts.
-
its been a while since my last post. i had a few tech questions about my 82 gl working on. its got the single barrel carb on it. is this any good, it feels alot quicker with it, along with different gearing. also what kinda gas milage can i expect with this car. my old 84 gl i had got 27 on a real good day. also is the final drive ratio the same from an 82 up to an 84...heck even a 5sp out of a ea82 wagon..

well i checked the light thismorning and it does in fact work but the door dosn't pop open. I'll look and see if a wire is misisng or disconected. Thanks for the help guys.
-
nope, nothing. it would be cool to get the light working again. when i hit the switch on low beams the dash dosn't say anything but when i hit the highbeams and hit the center light switch it sais in blue letters that that light is on..bt it dosn't work...just sais it does.
-
anyone know how to get the 3rd eye on an 82 wagon working. when i have the highbeams on it and hit the switch the dash said its on but the light dosn't turn on...any ideas, is there s relay or fues that could be out?
-
thanks guys, i have a 80psi autometer guage i will hook up.
-
my 82 wagon is now on the road all licensed and such. but i noticed that the oil pressure guage is reading 25psi at highway speeds and will often drop to 0 when its warm. the engine seems to run great, could I have a bad oil presure sender? my 84 i had a while back didn't have any problem like that. my second question is for gear ratios, is there a difference between an 82 and a 84 gl wagon. i noticed my rpms are much higher at 70mph like almost 4k whare my 84 was at 3k at 70mph.

well i made a post a while ago but i didn't show any pictures. I just got back from alaksa and got to take some today. here is the new washed up 83 gl my dad got for 100 bucks. it needs some work, front cv boots, it also has a little rust ( not to worred since its a beater ) there are a few more pictures in the photo gallery its got the ea81 with the single barrel carb, its got good low end grunt but i can tell its going to be a bear to keep up speed on the highway, it also has solid front disks wich i plan to swap out for vented disks when i can get to a junk yard.
